Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemoryHAROLD STUART TRENHOLM Our Dad passed away in the early hours of Easter Sunday, March 27, 2015 at the age of 92. He was born on September 16, 1923 in Watrous, SK. Dad was predeceased by his wife Eleanor on July 25, 1993, his parents, a sister and two brothers. At the age of 19 he enlisted in the Air Force and was stationed in England during the Second World War. Upon his return from England, he met and married Eleanor Coppack. She was the girl next door. They had three children, Gordon (Lynda), Neil (Joy), and Kathy (Blair). He is also survived by his grandchildren, Rob (Ingrid), Julie, Deanne, Drew, Kyle, Allison, Christopher and great-grandsons Marcus and Nicolas as well as many nieces and nephews. At a young age he was infatuated with trains. This led to a 35-year career with the CNR, retiring in 1978 as a Carman Apprentice Instructor. His family often teased him that he was retired almost as long as he had worked. After retirement and to keep busy he went to work for James Farms. He enjoyed immensely puttering around the farm fixing things and working the land. Wherever Dad went his red toolbox was not far away. He loved to fix things and his workbench was always full of projects. He built the family home on Whittier Avenue and the family cottage at Brereton Lake. During his retirement, he spent countless hours with his grandchildren forming a close bond with each of them. Family was always important to him and we will hold dear many happy times spent at the cottage and road trips to the West coast. These trips always included Mom's twin sister's family, The Munros. Volunteering was also important to Dad. He served for many years on the board of Transcona Memorial United Church and enjoyed singing in the choir. Dad was one of the volunteer laborers who actually built the church where it stands now. He also spent many hours on the Parent Executive of the Transcona and District Pipe Band. Dad was a good listener, a quiet and gentle man who taught by example and who could be counted on to accomplish many things without much fanfare. Funeral service will be held at Transcona Memorial United Church, 209 Yale Ave West on Wednesday April 6 at 10:00 a.m. The Family wishes to thank the 1st floor staff of Concordia Place for their care and compassion. Donations may be made to the Transcona Memorial Church Building fund or charity of your choice. My condolences on your loss. Harold was one of my instructors at the Transcona Shops. He was a caring man who enjoyed his position. Always ready to listen and help wherever possible. Treated everyone fairly. Was an honorary to know him. - Posted by: Steven Moroz (Former apprentice student) on: Apr 03, 2016

Mr Trenholm was such a nice person, so friendly and lots to talk about. My Papa and him spent lots of time together as did my Nana and Mrs Trenholm. We moved into my Nana and Papas home while Mr Trenholm was still living in his house, he got along well with my husband and loved to watch our daughter play. So sad to hear of his passing, but now he is with Mrs Trenholm and many of their good friends again. - Posted by: Candace Kostusik (My Nana and Papa were great friends of his and neighbors) on: Apr 03, 2016
