Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemoryERNEST PETER ZAPP May 20, 1931 - April 2, 2016 Ernie passed away early Saturday morning, April 2, 2016 at the Health Sciences Centre, at the age of 84 years, surrounded by those who loved him. Ernie was an accomplished salesman whose talents were passed on to his daughters. Early in his life he worked with his father Peter at Zapp's Fur Shop, later moving to be the manager and purchaser for Eaton's Fur Salon. Ernie finished his career at Sears and spent retirement enjoying family, his cottage at Hillside Beach and his home. Ernie loved life and home. The most important thing in Ernie's life, his reason for being, was his family. Ernie deeply loved his wife, daughters and their families, and welcomed many others into his home as family'. There was not a place Ernie would not drive to procure the best of anything for his family. He was known and loved for his heart warming generosity and welcoming spirit. In most recent years, Ernie's greatest pleasure was enjoyed from the periphery while he and Belinda hosted gatherings and festivities in their home when the girls, their families and friends came together for game nights, dancing and camaraderie. Lovingly remembered and forever in our hearts, Ernie is survived by his wife, Belinda; daughters, Lynette Zapp of Calgary (Greg Hickaway), Karen Zapp (Curtis Cross), Diane Zapp of Calgary (Jeff Case); grandchildren Mark Hickaway and Daniel Hickaway of Calgary; brother Teddy Zapp of Victoria; and sister Elsie Nykoruk. The clock of life is wound but once and no man has the power to tell just when the hand will stop. On what day or hour. Now is the only time you have to live it with a will. Don't wait until tomorrow. The hands may then be still. A private family service will take place and Ernest will be laid to rest with his family at All Saints Cemetery. If friends so desire, memorial donations may be made in Ernie's memory to the Winnipeg Pet Rescue Shelter, 3062 Portage Ave., Winnipeg, MB R3K 0Y1. Chrystos Voskres!
