MARGARET STEWART (nee SMITH) It is with heavy hearts that we are announcing the passing of our beloved Margaret Stewart on Friday, April 8, 2016. She is remembered by her husband of 54 years, David Stewart; children Linda (Darren) Dmyterko, David (Liz) Stewart, Colleen Crosby, Bonnie (Allan) Maydaniuk; grandchildren Chassisdy, Tavail, Maegan-Rae, Dante, Evan and Hayden; great-grandchildren Mytayah, Dakotah, Jerome, Nathan, Trevin and Natasha; nephew Wayne, and many other family and friends. Margaret was born August 13, 1940 in Selkirk, MB to her parents Sydney and Marjorie Smith. She had many fond childhood memories growing up at Patricia Beach alongside her 13 brothers and sister. As a young woman she made the move to the big city where she would later meet the love of her life, David. Together they worked hard to lovingly raise their four children and with the arrival of her many grandchildren and great-grandchildren, the love for her family continued to grow. Margaret was known for her sharp sense of humour, a passion for baking and her real talent for bingo, but the true joy in her life came from visiting with loved ones and babysitting her grandchildren. Our family would like to extend our sincerest thanks to the staff at Poseidon Personal Care Home, in particular Nurse Heather for their ongoing care; as well to the nursing staff at the Victoria General Hospital ICU for their exceptional care. A celebration of life is to take place at the Wheeler Funeral Home, 1800 Day Street, on Friday, April 15, 2016 at 11:00 a.m. Funeral Arrangements in Care of: Wheeler Funeral Home, Cemetery & Crematorium 1800 Day Street - 204-224-1525 Please sign the book of memories at www.wheelerfuneral.com

Condolences & Memories (4 entries)

  • Thank you nanny. Will never forget getting movies every Friday when I'd come over and being able to tell you anything without ever looking differently at me. Truly one of the strongest women I've ever had in my life. LOVE YOU NANNY. - Posted by: Tavail (Grandson) on: Apr 15, 2016

  • Margaret and Dave were neighbours of mine for the 11 years my daughter and I lived on Leila Avenue. The wonderful smell of Margaret's cooking would sneak through her open door when she stepped outside to take a break from her stove and to have a chat. I know they both kept an eye out for me which I truly appreciate and in some ways treated me like one of their children for which I was honoured. My deepest condolences to you Dave and all your family. Sincerely, Shannon - Posted by: Shannon Wark (Neighbour) on: Apr 14, 2016

  • I have a lot of fond memories of auntie Margaret most of them are how she was always cooking in the kitchen. making us kids something to eat or making us a roaster full of popcorn before watching a late night thriller movie when her & uncle David had a bunch of nieces and nephews over for a sleepover. Those were such fun time for all of us kids. When us kids were all grown up, auntie got a job at Sisler High School as a cook in the cafeteria and all the kids at school would talk about how auntie Margaret was such a good cook. I was of proud to hear the students talk so highly of my auntie. I'm so glad my mom (Marleen) and I (Dana) had some special times spent with you at the care home. We love you and will miss you greatly auntie Margaret. My you rest in peace. The Houle family sends our Deepest Condolences to uncle David, Linda & Darren & family and David Jr & Liz & family and Colleen & family and Bonnie & Allen & family.
