Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemoryROGER JOSEPH MAGNE September 1, 1938 - April 16, 2016 It is with heavy hearts we announce the passing of Roger Magne on Saturday, April 16, 2016. He is survived by his wife of 54 years, Linda (nee Kemball), his three children, Rick (Joanne), Nadine Meakin (Rob), Carol Friesen (Daryl), nine grandchildren, Justin (Carrie), Breanne, Tavish, Ryan, Nathan, Jared, Alex, Becky, Colton, two great-grandchildren, Grayson and Kinsley, sisters Shirley (Larry Vincent), and Suzanne (Bill Sedo), his Aunt Cecile Bellec, and many cousins, nieces and nephews. Roger was predeceased by his parents, Felix and Louise (nee Bellec) Magne, and his sister Evelyn Rey. Roger was raised in St. Claude, Manitoba and in 1957 moved to Winnipeg at 19 years of age. He married Linda in 1962 and together they started a family. Roger enjoyed a successful career as a Sales Representative in the steel industry. He spent more than 25 years with Westeel-Rosco, moving to VicWest, and then to Westman Steel where he retired at the age of 67. Roger thoroughly cherished the many friendships he developed with his co-workers and customers over the span of his career. Growing up he loved spending time on the Bellec family farm as well as playing baseball and hockey. Roger liked sports of all kinds including hunting, fishing, curling and golf. In retirement, Roger spent his summers working in the yard and vegetable garden, and his winters travelling south with Linda. Pepere's greatest joy of all was the time spent with his grandchildren. The family would like to thank Dr. Mehta, the 4DE staff, and the Rehab staff of Actionmarguerite (Tache) Nursing Centre for the professional and compassionate care provided to Roger over the last four and a half years. A special thank you to Paul of Preferred Transport for his exceptional service. In lieu of flowers, donations in Roger's memory may be made to the Heart and Stroke Foundation of Manitoba or the Canadian Diabetes Association. In keeping with Roger's wishes, cremation has taken place and a funeral mass celebrating his life will be held on Friday, April 22, 2016 at 11:00 a.m. in St. Bernadette Roman Catholic Church, 820 Cottonwood Road.
