Condolences & Memories (1 entries)

  • My mother is a neighbour/resident at Concordia, since 2010. Acclimating to unfamiliar environments is challenging for all of us. When I first visited Concordia, my priority prior to returning to the U.S., was finding supportive friends for my mom, Katherine. I didn't expect to discover a beautiful friend for myself, in the process. Mary's absence is going to affect MANY lives. There certainly was no age gap. I found a contemporary, loving, humorous, generous and compassionate SOUL. She loved her vitamixer and brought warm compotes and puddings to my mother, frequently and knocked on her door making sure she was OK. I loved Mary...almost immediately. I wanted to get to know her more and more, but wasn't afforded nearly enough time to share real time with her and Allen. I know how much she adored her Allen and Mark, as I never had the opportunity to meet the rest of her "kids". Mary loved the social opportunities at Concordia, and I think she loved everyone she met, very deeply. She was so FULL of LIGHT. I am SO grateful I had the privilege of meeting Mary and I am extremely saddened by the events of her passing. There's a HUGE hole at Concordia, and I know in the lives of everyone who adored her. I am going to grieve for a long time. My heart is with Allan, Mark, her "BIG Teddy Bear" and the rest of her beloved family and ALL her friends!! I am SO sorry!!! - Posted by: Randal Carpenter (daughter of Katherine K./Concordia res.) on: May 03, 2016
