HAROLD EDWARD JONES June 27, 1931 - April 27, 2016 It is with great sadness that the family announce the sudden passing of Harold Edward Jones, aged 84 of Scanterbury, Manitoba. Harold leaves behind to mourn his passing his partner of 38 years, Verna Girard, his stepchildren Janice and Theresa; 11 grandchildren; 41 great-grandchildren and eight great-great-grandchildren. Harold also leaves also to mourn his sister Mina Smith, nieces and nephews Raymond, Beverly, Carl, Clarence, Marvin, Glenda, Gerald, Marlene, Kelvin, Deborah, Wendell, Emery and Lawrence; as well as many great-nieces and great-nephews, cousins, Godchildren and friends. Harold was a hard working man who started to work at a very young age. As a young man Harold worked cutting pulp, worked as a labourer with CN Rail, and in 1968 worked as a farm hand until he retired. He was the church keeper at St. Phillips Anglican Church for many years. Harold was well known and will be remembered for toiling the bells for the funeral services of many community members over the years. Harold was predeceased by his parents Peter and Annabella (Sinclair); sister Dorothy; brother Charlie; aunt Catherine Raven; uncles Harry Sinclair and Robert Sinclair, brother-in-law Lawrence (Happy) Smith, step son Ernest Girard, granddaughter Alexandra and great granddaughter Serenity. Wake service will be held on Sunday, May 1, 2016 at the Private Tom Chief Community Hall in Scanterbury at 4:00 p.m. Funeral Service will be held on Monday, May 2 at 1:00 p.m. also at the Private Tom Chief Community Hall in Scanterbury, Manitoba with Pastor Tina Leveque officiating. Internment will be at St. Phillips Anglican Churchyard with a luncheon to follow. The family wishes to thank his many friends and relatives who would help him by offering baking, rides and company, a very special thank you to Yvonne Bone, Dana Wells of BON Security and Glenda Smith for performing CPR until the first responders arrived, the first responders from Selkirk General Hospital and the Selkirk RCMP and finally to the Brokenhead Ojibway Nation for their support.
