Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemoryGEORGES DURAND 1929 - 2016 Peacefully, with his family by his side, Georges passed away at St. Boniface Hospital on May 19, 2016. He was predeceased by his parents Rosaire and Hermine (née Adolphe) Durand of Lorette, Manitoba. Georges will be sadly missed by his three children: sons Marc and Leo, and daughter Katie; mother of his children Louise, brother Denis (Laurette), nieces Denise, Janine (Gilles) Rondeau, Simone (Jacques) St. Pierre; numerous cousins, extended family and friends. He was born and raised at the family farm in Lorette. Georges was a natural born trucker. From his days hauling logs to trucking across the country, Georges made numerous friends. Although away on the road, Georges always made it a priority to return home for family gatherings and special occasions. He lived numerous years with his mother in St. Boniface and was her devout chauffeur. She enjoyed many trips across the country at his side. Georges also enjoyed farming and was always around to seed and harvest together with his brother. Later in life, he married, started a family and returned to Lorette, the place he called home to this day. As he was retired, he was able to spend all of his time with his family; something that made him proud. Whether it was for coffee, a game of cards on a weekend or just to chitchat, Georges enjoyed the company of his close friends and neighbours. The family would like to thank John and Lynn Hudrick, Eddie Hudrick, Hector and Susie Gallardo, and Roger and Roxanne Kirouac for their years of friendship and support. Viewing will take place at 10:30 a.m. followed by the Funeral Mass at 11:00 a.m. on Friday May 27 at the Notre Dame de Lorette Parish Church; Father Charles Fillion officiating. Cremation and a private interment will be at a later date. The family would like to express a heartfelt thank you to the nurses and doctors at Ste. Anne Hospital, as well as the staff who provided home care. In lieu of flowers, donations in Georges' memory can be made to the Fonds Hôpital Ste. Anne Fund Inc.
