Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemorySOPHIE BOCHEN January 1, 1921 - May 24, 2016 Peacefully on Tuesday, May 24, 2016, at the Red River Place, our mom, baba, great-baba and great-great-baba passed away and went to be with our Lord. Mom was predeceased by her parents Joseph and Sophie Galant; her husband Walter; sons-in-law Don Skromeda and Jack Smith; sister Ann Mernette (Alex); brothers Joe (Julie), Paul and Peter Galant, and siblings in youth Lillie, Mary and Michael. She leaves to mourn her passing her children Marilyn Skromeda, Sharon Smith and Wayne Bochen; grandchildren Marlo Gusberti (Greg), Dayna Andrushko (Brian), Trevor Smith (Cynthia), Teri Reilly (Adam), Dayl Bochen (Carlson) and Candace Bochen; great-grandchildren Leah, Kasen, Karter, Adhara, Holdyn, Taryn, Leland, Belle, Jordan, Jeremy, Bailey, Sara and Ethan; and great-great-grandchildren Jeremy, Ryan, Danni-lyn and Malaya. Mom was born and raised in Rossdale. She married Walter on June 14, 1941. They raised their family in Rossdale where they made many life long friends. Mom gave us unconditional love and we knew we could always count on her for support when we needed her. When we were older Mom went to work at Eatons, Brown's Bakery and finally at Middlechurch Home as an excellent cook. She also trained other people to cook for the elderly. Mom was famous for her sesame cookies and her perishky. When Mom retired she moved into the Knights Centre where she enjoyed playing cards and bingo with the seniors until she moved in 2010 to Red River Place. She was a C.W.L. member for 25 plus years. We would like to thank Dr. Zoppa, Dr. Lindenschmidt Sr. and Jr., as well as the excellent nurses and care givers at Red River Place. Eulogy will be said at 11:00 a.m. on Monday, May 30, 2016 with Funeral Mass immediately following in the Notre Dame Roman Catholic Church in Selkirk, with Fr. John McKenzie officiating. As per her wishes cremation has taken place. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Cancer Foundation or a charity of your choice. Rest in peace Mom. We love you.
