Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemoryALCIDE ARISTIDE LABOSSIERE Alcide Aristide LaBossière, born in Somerset, MB, recently passed away at the age of 92 years, on Thursday, May 26, 2016. Known to the community of St. Boniface as business co-owner of Degagné Motors, "Al" will not only be missed by his co-workers and friends, but more importantly, the family he has left behind. Born August 11, 1923 to parents Edgar and Orise LaBossière, Alcide had five siblings growing up in the community of Somerset: Clemence, Gerry, Norma, Cecile and Emile. He is survived by two of these siblings, Cecile (Brian) and Emile. Alcide moved to Winnipeg in 1938, where he attended Collège Saint Boniface to study business and accounting. A few years later, he took over the business side of his father's St. Boniface Texaco station, which he continued to do for the next 20 years. He married Lucienne Paquin in 1945 and raised four children, Denis (Barb), Simone, Gisèle and Philippe (Anita). Alcide's daughter Simone died at the early age of six. Alcide became the proud co-owner of Degagné Motors with George Bouchard in 1970 and soon after expanded the business to include Voyageur Auto Leasing. Degagné was a big part of St. Boniface and the surrounding communities until 1994 when "Al" sold the business and retired at the age of 71. Notably, Alcide's son Philippe spent from 1970 to 1994 working by his side as one of his head mechanics. In 1972, sometime after the passing of his beloved wife Lucienne, Alcide married Florence Landry. Al and Flo took many exciting trips to world destinations such as Germany, England, France, Martinique and the U.S.A. In later years, they spent their time either visiting with family in Winnipeg, traveling to Palm Springs for winters, or lounging at their Nestor Falls cabin for summers. Although Alcide was a shrewd and hard-working business man, he loved spending time with his family, having parties, cracking jokes, traveling and fishing. He was an avid golfer and had many "hole-in-ones" over the years. He was also very involved with the Knights of Columbus where he became "Le Grand Chef." Alcide leaves behind grandchildren, André Popiel (Michelle), Eric Labossière (Rachel), Christine Labossière, Jean-Paul Popiel and Monique Popiel. He also leaves behind great-grandchildren, Jaden Popiel, Dylan Popiel, Dayne Jernberg, Simone LaBossière and Vedder LaBossière. The family would especially like to thank and praise a few of the people who cared so much for Alcide's well-being in his last years, months and days; namely André Popiel, Gisèle Popiel and Denis Labossière. This was greatly appreciated and all can find solace in knowing that Alcide can now finally have the rest he deserves. He will be truly missed by all. In keeping with Al's wishes, cremation has taken place. Please help us rejoice the life of Alcide on Thursday, June 2, 2016 at 1:00 p.m. in the Coutu Funeral Home, located at 680 Archibald Street. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the charity of your choice. The Coutu Family in care of arrangements: E.J. COUTU & CO. FUNERAL DIRECTORS 680 Archibald Street 204-253-5086 ejcoutu.com

I had the fortune of getting to know Grandpa Al in 2009; I only wish it could have been sooner. It didn't take long for me to figure out what an amazing patriarch he was. A father, grandfather, and great-grandfather like none I have seen. He welcomed me right into the family with more than open arms; with an open heart, and I will never forget it. I can see how much positive influence he has had not just on Eric's life, but especially on Eric's life, but on so many people. The stories I am told of his altruism and strength are endless. I got to see a lot first hard, which I am thankful for. Grandpa was not just wise, but he was also always funny and in great spirit. At the annual family summer get together he would show up in a bright pink shirt with mardigras beads and a fun hat. Age didn't seem to be a factor to him, nor did it slow him down. I am saddened to think that my son won't remember him and that the son we have on the way will never have gotten the chance to be held by him. But, I am comforted in knowing that Grandpa Al will nonetheless always be watching over my boys. And they too will get to know him because of all the greatness that Eric will pass on to them that his grandfather passed on to him. Grandpa Al left an amazing legacy which speaks only to his greatness as a man. He is missed and loved by many. - Posted by: Rachel Labossiere (Granddaughter in law ) on: Oct 12, 2016

When they talk about people we really miss once they are gone, my grandfather Al is definitely one of them. He was amazing. He cared so much and he taught me so much. He rents a place in my head, absolutely and forever. Eric - Posted by: Eric Labossiere (Grandson) on: Oct 06, 2016

Al was a truly kind man that was generous with his time. We spent little time together overall, but he will always be remembered with fondness and respect. My thoughts go out to Flo, Phil, Christine and his whole family. - Posted by: Don (Friend) on: Jun 28, 2016
