ANNE FRIEND (FOSTY) June 10, 1939 - June 2, 2016 It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of our loving mother, grandmother and great-grandmother, sister and aunt on June 2, 2016 at the age of 76. Left to forever cherish Anne's memory are: her children Debbie (Ernie) and Darryl (Cindy); grandchildren, Dana (Steve), Shanelle, Cassidy, Hayden, and Houston, great-grandchildren, Archer and Declan; brothers, Matt (Stella), John, Bill (Marylou), Maurice (Olga), Eugene (Marion), and sister-in-law Elsie Fosty. Anne was born and raised in Vita, Manitoba. She later moved to Winnipeg and was employed with Air Canada where she retired after 25 years. Anne had a passion for gardening and was known for her fine art of making pysanky (Ukrainian Easter Eggs), Ukrainian food and baking. We could always count on Mom (Grammy) for her delicious homemade borscht, perogies and cabbage rolls. She truly loved spending time with her family and will be dearly missed by all that knew her. Anne was predeceased by her parents Margaret and Steve Fosty; brother Mike Fosty; sister-in-law Elsie Fostey; and nephews Johnny and Dale Fostey. The family would like to extend our most heartfelt thanks to the nurses and caregivers at Riverview Health Centre for their excellent care and compassion. Prayers will be held on Wednesday, June 8 at 7:00 p.m. at St. Anne Ukrainian Catholic Church, 35 Marcie Street. Funeral Liturgy will be celebrated by Father Alan Wizinsky on Thursday, June 9 at 11:00 a.m. at St. Anne Ukrainian Catholic Church.
