Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemoryROGER DENIS DESROSIERS September 17, 1933 - June 22, 2016 It is with great sadness the family announces the passing of Roger Desrosiers on Wednesday, June 22, 2016, at St. Boniface Hospital, at the age of 82. Roger was born and raised in St. Boniface on September 17, 1933. He attended school in St. Boniface as a child and was always known as a calm, caring and tall man with a very gentle voice. Roger worked as a Mail Order Clerk for Eaton's for 26 years and then for the St. Boniface School Division #4 as the Head Custodian for 22 years until his retirement in 1999. Roger was past president and founder of the Kenbur Club. He also spent time with other organizations such as Le Club Laverendrye, where he sat on the building committee, as well as Native Sons, UNF Bingo Hall and Eaton's Bowling where he played on various senior leagues. Roger met the love of his life Thelma in the summer of 1961. The two got engaged in the summer of 1973 and married on November 17, 1973, in St. Emile Church. They resided in Kenbur Gardens in St. Vital for 42 years. The two always considered each other the "love of their lives," or "two peas in a pod." The two of them were inseparable, no matter what, Roger and Thelma were always together. The love Roger and Thelma shared was extended to all family and friends that shared in their lives. They both spent many years travelling throughout the USA by car as neither wanted to fly. In the fall of 1990, Roger met Marcel Lesage where a great working relationship evolved into a lifelong friendship. Later on, with the birth of Marcel's children, Danniel and Nicole, you could see the pride in "Papa's" eyes which remained brilliant, as well as his caring and loving nature. Roger and Thelma cared for both children for a time in their early childhood years and continued to be supportive "grandparents" as they continued into their adult lives. Roger is predeceased by his parents, Joseph and Louise; brothers, Maurice and Raymond; brothers-in-law, Ralph, Frank, Roland and Douglas; as well as sisters-in-law, Beatrice, Lil and Rosemary. He is survived by brothers-in-law, Eric Wicklund and George (Loraine) Wicklund; sisters-in-law, Emily Wicklund, Dorothy Barker and Doreen Horton; as well as many nieces and nephews. The family would like to extend a heartfelt thank you to the doctors, nurses and staff at the St. Boniface Hospital, wing 5B. In keeping with Roger's wishes, a funeral mass celebrating his life will be held on Thursday, June 30, 2016, at 1:00 p.m. in St. Emile Roman Catholic Church, 556 St. Anne's Road, with viewing one hour prior. In lieu of flowers, if friends so desire, donations in memory of Roger may be made to the Manitoba Lung Association. "Rest Peacefully Pumpkin, Roger, Papa."
