DANELLE JOY REID (FLEMING) April 11, 1951 - June 26, 2016 Danelle Joy was born on April 11, 1951 to Lawrence Keith Fleming and Joan Barbara Warden. She leaves to mourn her partner and husband of 42 years, Stephen; son Miles, his wife Tanya and their children Gabriella and Niall Reid; daughter Erin Reid; big sister Laurine (Larry) Shone; baby brother Richard (Joanne) Fleming; sisters-in-law Jessica (Murray) Grafton, Pamela (Robert) Campbell, Cecelia Reid (Don) and Janine (Jacques) Marion; her life long "Sister friends" Gwen Harrison and Juanita Smith; as well as numerous nieces, nephews and many friends. Danelle was predeceased by her brother Terrance Fleming and sister-in-law Sandi (Bill) Reid. Missing her the most is her cherished companion and best friend Pierre. Danelle attained a Fine Arts degree before spending many years as an educator. It was while working at "Play School" the daycare in Tyndall Park School that she decided she would like to pursue a education degree. Upon attaining the degree she taught at Montrose, Robertson and Lord Nelson Schools before finding her home and spending many years at Dufferin School. While at Dufferin she furthered her education in Early Childhood Education and attained her Masters Degree of Education. During her last years at Dufferin School Danelle was able to combine her passions of education and art becoming the school art teacher. She relished these years and the many unique works of art her students created. Over the years Danelle enjoyed many pastimes. She attended many fitness and yoga classes at the Wellness Institute, Moksha and Yoga Bird. She loved sketching, reading and photography. She had a passion for music, it was a rare moment that she did not have something musical playing in the background. Over the years she attended many concerts, opera, ballet and preforming art performances. She spent a lot of time tending to her plants, flowers and garden. Danelle spent countless hours shopping. Any and all time spent with Niall and Gabriella were cherished moments for her. Danelle traveled extensively, in her years she made it to many destinations around the world. Some of her favourite memories came from the European adventures she shared with Miles and Erin, the time spent in New York with Gwen and Juanita, Waikiki on New Year's Eve with her sisters-in-law, and the many tropical and exotic locations her and Stephen visited over the years. When not traveling Danelle spent many summers at the cottage in Grindstone, exploring nature and enjoying the lake. Since finding their own little piece of paradise, Danelle and Stephen spent winters at Newport Glen in Fort Myers. In Fort Myers she made new friends, spent lots of time shopping and had many long adventurous walks with Pierre. Going to the Sanibel Island beaches to pick seashells and gaze at the dolphins frolicking in the ocean was one of her favourite places to be. Danelle loved art, animals, nature and her family and devoted her life to these things. She always encouraged people to use their imagination and to explore their creativity and supported individualism. A celebration of life is planned for Sunday, July 3 at the Norwood Hotel from 1:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m. All who were touched by Danelle are welcome to attend. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made in her name to Hull's Haven Border Collie Rescue, c/o 88 McAdam Street, Winnipeg, MB R2W 0A4 or www.hullshaven.org/donations "Life is not about what you get, but what is taken from you. Condolences & Memories (5 entries)

  • I am so sorry to hear about Danelle. I saw her often at our clinic and we always had fun chats. I was in awe of her strong character, she really was amazing. A few weeks ago, as she was leaving, she gave me her hand and said ' I won't be seeing you again, Kim' . I was hoping she would be wrong. I am glad to have met Danelle and I will always remember her. - Posted by: Kim (Nurse assistant CCMB ) on: Jul 02, 2016

  • I had the wonderful experience to know Danelle and work with her at Tyndal Park Playschool. Our children were the same age and we shared some great times as we worked and they played together. Danelle was always a force to be reckoned with. She laughed loudly, smiled broadly and put her heart into everything she did. Talented, intelligent and one of the most interesting people I have ever met! I know Stephen, Miles and Erin as well as her grandchildren and extended family will miss her terribly. I am so sorry for your loss. She was an incredible woman and I will think of her often. Sincerely, Margaret Murchison - Posted by: Margaret Murchison (friend and Playschool co worker) on: Jun 30, 2016
