Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemoryERNEST FRYKAS July 16, 1933 - June 24, 2016 It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Ernest Frykas on June 24, 2016, at the Grace General Hospital with his family by his side. Ernie is survived by his wife Sylvia and their four children, Larry (Patty), Brian (Judy), Diane (John), and Virginia (Darren). He has left behind his grandchildren, Ryan, Jason (Melissa), Carlee (Jordan), Breann, Brennan, Derek, Darcy, Ashley (Brenden), Brooke, Paige, his great-grandchildren, Bronsyn and Bryce and his sister Stella Manchur. Ernie is predeceased by his parents, Ilko (Alec) Frykas, Domka (Dora) Moroz, siblings, Mary Wornowski, John A., Steve, Sam, Nellie Romanetz, Walter, Harry and Anne Ledouceur and his loving grandson Dallas Favell. Ernie was born on the Frykas Farm in Mink Creek, Manitoba. He attended Borshaw School and continued to work on the family farm. The family farm was his pride and joy, and his passion was he loved to work with his brothers. Ernie was a Jack of all trades' and pursued his career as a heavy duty mechanic. He worked at BACM, Building Products, Beatrice, Modern Dairies, and he worked for a family farm in Regina, Saskatchewan. After many years of courtship, Ernest and Sylvia got married on February 11, 1961, and enjoyed 55 happy years of marriage together. They lived in Gilbert Plains where Dad helped to build the golf course. Shortly thereafter they moved to Winnipeg. Upon arriving in Winnipeg, they bought their home at 630 Burnell Street in Winnipeg, living there for over 50 years, (mom still resides there). The home holds many amazing memories that the family will cherish forever. Their home was always open to family and friends. Although it was a small house it was always filled with love, laughter, and family. They have been parishioners of St. Josephat's parish for over 50 years. Ernie enjoyed many things from watching wrestling to playing cards, especially Whist, to spending time with the family. The best was spending time with all his grandchildren. He loved to joke and be humorous. Ernie was a very hard-working, traditional, loving man, who was supportive and always provided for his family. Family always came first to Dad. The family would like to thank the staff of the ICU at Grace General Hospital in Winnipeg. Prayers will be held on June 30, at 7:00 p.m. at St. Josaphat's Ukrainian Catholic Church in Winnipeg. Funeral liturgy is on July 2, 2016, at 11:00 a.m. at Mink Creek Ukrainian Catholic Church. Should family or friends desire to make a donation in memory of Ernie, it may be made to the Mink Creek Holy Trinity Church. You will forever be missed and loved dad. We love and miss you Gigi.
