WILMA GUERTIN It is with heavy hearts we announce the passing of Wilma Guertin, our sister-in-law, aunt and friend on Thursday, July 7, 2016. Wilma was predeceased by her parents, William and Mary Derrick, her sister Dorothy Shwaykosky and by her beloved husband of 44 years, Norbert Jr. (Norby) in 2012. A part of Wilma left with Norby. Left to mourn are Wilma's brothers-in-law, Richard Guertin and Brian Rand (Jeannine), sister-in-law Pat Main (Ted), niece Diane Rand (Scott Shimkus), nephew David Rand (Rachel), niece Celeste Main, great-nieces and nephews, Tyler and Amber Shimkus, and Jeremy and Jessica Rand. Wilma had many close friends, and also leaves to mourn Louise Schoenherr, Judy Maleski, Russ and Linda Patterson, Clint and Caroline Castle, Randy and Carlene Rummery and many others. The family would like to thank these neighbours for caring for Wilma, and also Wilma's grief support group who were there for her in her time of grieving. Wilma retired from Oldfield, Kirby & Esau in 2008 after having worked there for over 30 years. Wilma and Norby enjoyed a humble life at their home on Fernleaf Drive. They spent time with family, friends and neighbours. Wilma loved attending her nephew and nieces' sporting events, band concerts and recitals. She especially enjoyed Seniors' Day at Ecole Varennes. Every family holiday celebration featured a toast to Norby. Wilma missed him especially at Christmas and held her memories close to her heart. She enjoyed oldies (especially Elvis), family dinners, the CFL, and reading the Winnipeg Free Press. Flowers are gratefully declined. If friends so desire, a donation in memory of Wilma may be made to a charity of your choice. In keeping with Wilma's wishes, cremation has taken place and a graveside service will be held on Friday, July 15, 2016 at 2:00 p.m. at St. Mary's Cemetery, 520 Osborne Street, with a reception to follow in the Coutu Funeral Home, 680 Archibald Street.
