JOYCE LORRAINE ROSS August 29, 1927 - July 10, 2016 Joyce Ross (a.k.a. Sark, The Butterfly Kid and The Rebel) - passed away peacefully, with her daughter Joanne at her side, on Sunday, July 10, 2016. Our adventurer extraordinaire travelled the world with family and friends from Paris to Spain, Casbah to Portugal, England to Tennessee, Toronto to Old Montreal and now, back home again. Our Joyce definitely had the travel bug. Give that woman a broom and she'll fly anywhere,' her Joseph used to say. And, she always got such a kick out of sharing her travel stories and shopping finds with everyone. A smart pair of jeans or socks, an evening cocktail, a round of golf, staying up late to read a good crime novel, penguins, collecting clown figurines and stickers, camping with her Joseph...these were a few of her favourite things. She showed us all that getting older doesn't mean you can't begin anew. After retiring from Investor's Group, she picked up a paintbrush and discovered her inner artist, found true love again, met her hero Jack Nichlaus, earned her black belt in shopping and kept us laughing along the way with her wry humour. She will be terribly missed by her children Joanne (Allan), James (Margy), Josie (Peter), Susan (Peter), Diane (d. Clifford); by her grandchildren Jennifer (Paul), Clay (Sherri), Tyler (Diana), Kris (Amity), Kal (Theresa), Dana, Jason, Tiffany, Victoria (Roberto) and Ileana; by her niece Wendy (Pat); by her many great-grandchildren to whom she was simply, Gigi - Shelby, Owen, Avery, Taylor, Emily, Brandon, Quinn, Kieran, Violet, Dante, and Helena; and, by her longtime friends and travel partners Vickie and Phyllis. She was predeceased by her parents Connie and Curtis, her sister Verle, her beloved son, Jeffrey, first husband Ken, childhood friend, Mabel, and her soulmate, Joseph. Loving wife, sister, mother, grandma, gigi, friend, confidante, partner-in-crime, and comedian. She meant so much to so many people and puppies (Foxy and Buddy, Bud, Harley, Oscar and Corona). We know you're busy bringing laughter to the Angels now; how lucky they are to have you. Until we meet again...a toast to the one and only ever Joyce Ross! XO Special thanks to the wonderful staff at River East Personal Care Home for their loving care. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations can be made to the Winnipeg Humane Society, Joyce's favourite charity. A Celebration of Life gathering, a casual drop-in, will be held at Wheeler Funeral Home on August 5 between the hours of 12:00 noon to 2:30 p.m., with interment to follow at the Transcona Cemetery.
