SYLVIA NOBLES Sylvia passed away peacefully on Wednesday, July 20, 2016 at Health Sciences Centre, with her family by her side, at the age of 73 years. Mom was born in Calbayog City, Samar, Philippines on November 4, 1942, although Mom always say she was born in 1941 but the records were destroyed during the war. She was preceded by her father Alberto Doinog, mother Concepcion, and two brothers Simeon and Nesias, all of them are now united in heaven and given everlasting life. Mom was a very good student receiving high honours inspite of being a working student. She graduated Bachelor of Arts in Education in 1965 at Arellano University. Mom worked as a high school mathematics teacher for 35 years, touching and inspiring the lives of her students notedly in Torres High School where she retired in 2001. Mom worked hard, sometimes teaching in two schools at the same time. Mom also had a passion for sewing where it was both a hobby and another source of income. She sewed beautiful clothes for her family and friends. Sylvia was married to Rufus Nobles I in 1966 and had seven children: Irene, Maria Rusyl (Alton), Rolando (Marlyn), Remedios, Jennifer, Rufus (Kristina) and Jewelyn (John Dale), and 10 grandchildren, Marial, Gerald, Desiree Dawn, Marlon, Felicity, Patricia, Paul, Rene, Yzabella and Jazmyne. Sylvia was a loving and caring mother, grandmother, daughter, sister, aunt and friend. She always put the welfare of her children first before her. Mom would give and do everything for us. Mom exceeded the expectations and duties of a mother to all of us - her children. Truly the best mother in the world. Sylvia loved to go on vacation with family, friends and co-teachers. She cherished those beautiful memories and loved telling them over and over. Mom visited Canada several times (Regina, Montreal) in the 1990s and immigrated to Canada in October 2000 to join her family in Ottawa. Mom lived there for several years and eventually settled in Winnipeg in 2005. She loved the summer days and continued her passion for planting, it made her happy to see beautiful flowers. Mom loved to cook delicious meals and always kept the house neat and clean. Sylvia loved traveling, and with her bright mind till her last days she fondly remembered her trip to Iloilo in 2010 and recently in Europe especially in Italy and the Vatican. Sylvia and her family would like to thank all the doctors and many health care providers who took care of her through the years. Mass of Resurrection will be held on Saturday, July 23, 2016 at 3:00 p.m. at St. Peter's Roman Catholic Church, 748 Keewatin St., Winnipeg, MB, Rev. Monsignor Enrique Samson Jr. celebrant.
