ALFIO CARLONI It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Alfio Carloni on July 28, 2016, at the age of 84. He is predeceased by his wife Dina; parents, Guiseppe and Diamante; brother Attilio and one sister Ilvia. He is survived by his two sisters, Iride and Mariarosa; his children, Bruno (Roberta), Mario (Suzanne), Paul and Marisa (Darren); grandchildren, Justin, Jenny, Aaron, Anthony and Paige; and great-grandchild Pierce and numerous nieces and nephews. Alfio immigrated to Winnipeg in 1954. He was 23. It was quite the experience as it was January and his shoes kept sticking to the concrete! Alfio had several careers. He was a miner in Belgium. His first job in Manitoba was at North Star Oil Refinery on Panet Road. Next he was a sausage maker in Arborg, then a butcher. Finally he had his own tile installation company here in Winnipeg - A. Carloni Ltd. Alfio met Dina through her sister Caterina. She resided in Italy at the time and came here as a result of the letters they exchanged. They got married in March 2, 1957. Special thanks to the staff at the De Salaberry District Health Center in St. Pierre-Jolys for their care during the last days of his life. Celebration of life ceremony will be held at Desjardins Funeral Chapel 357 Des Meurons St. on Wednesday, August 3, 2016 at 11:00 a.m. Interment at Glen Lawn Memorial Gardens and Funeral Home. I'm so sorry to hear of Alfi's passing. When we moved in 'next door' at the time in Grande Pointe he was quick to welcome us, with wine of course! He was a very nice, kind man. Our deepest sympathies to the family. Rob and Joanne Gordon - Posted by: Joanne Gordon (Neighbour) on: Aug 29, 2016

My condolences to the Carloni Family. it has been many years since I last saw Mario or Bruno. I do remember Mr. Carloni coming home after a long day of tiling & going to their home on Aulneau Street & having mom's homemade pizza for lunch. God Bless, RIP.
