ADA DE LUCA August 31, 1935 - August 2, 2016 Ada De Luca passed away after a long and valiant battle with cancer on Tuesday, August 2, 2016 at the Health Sciences Centre in Winnipeg. Left to cherish Ada's memory are her loving husband Domenico; son Ernest and his wife Nicki, her daughter Sonia and her husband Henry, her son Franco and his wife Kendra-Dee; and her three grandchildren, Adrien, Dana and Drake. She is further survived by her sisters, Anna and Maria, nieces, nephews, other relatives and many friends in both Canada and Italy. She was preceded in death by her parents, Domenico and Teresa, and her two brothers, Aldo and Francesco. Born in 1935 in Cordignano, Italy, Ada joined her husband Domenico in Canada, in 1958, as a newly married bride. Ada worked for 20 years as a seamstress at the Hudson's Bay Company, primarily in the bridal department. She was a devoted wife and mother, and she was always willing to share her talents in cooking and fashion with her family and friends. Along with her husband, Ada was very proud to have encouraged and supported her three children in their successful pursuit of engineering degrees. Her time with her three grandchildren was especially precious to her. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Tuesday, August 9, 2016 at 11:00 a.m. from Holy Rosary Roman Catholic Church, 510 River Ave., Rev. Fr. Sam Argenziano celebrant. Condolences & Memories (2 entries)

  • It was with great sadness that we learned of Ada's passing. We met Ada a number of years ago when she came to Ottawa to visit her son, Ernest, and we were touched by the warmth of her personality and generous spirit. Our prayers and deepest condolences go out to Domenico and family. - Posted by: Linda Jones & Abdul Al-Bakh'kam (friends) on: Aug 14, 2016

  • In the summer of 1956, I had the pleasure of working alongside three young Italian immigrants, one of whom was Domenico De Luca. Each of those young men showed very considerable promise of fulfilling the dreams that all post-war immigrants cherished when they uprooted themselves for a new life in Canada. Domenico and Ada deserve congratulations for achieving their dreams - for themselves and for their children. I consider it an honour to have known them, and I offer my deepest sympathy to Domenico for the loss of Ada. - Posted by: Keith Bricknell (Workmate) on: Aug 06, 2016
