LOIS WOODEN It is with great sadness the family announces the passing of Lois (Lodie) Wooden on Sunday, August 7, 2016 at River Park Gardens at the age of 98 years. Mom was predeceased by her husband Wilbur (Joe) Wooden; parents, Mamie and Leonard Suggitt; brothers, Cecil and Gordon; sister Catheran and infant grandson Darcy. She leaves to mourn her daughter Barbara (Ad) Zerbin; sons, Murray (Adele) and Gary (Marion). Eight grandchildren: Lisa (Mark) Krupka, Wendy (Richie) Kitkoski, Dan Zerbin, Michelle (Richard) Hofer, Ken (Diana) Wooden, David (Megon) Wooden, Nadine (Dan) Ogborn and Nicole (Peter Mayberry); as well as great-grandchildren: Trent, Reanne, Jordan, William, Emmi, Shaelyn, Aliya, Samantha, Kristyn, Hailey, Keith, Tyler, Milo and a new grandson expected in October. Mom is also survived by brother Leonard (Tillie) Suggitt, sister Bobbie Prescott and many beloved nieces and nephews. Mom was born in Norwood on February 15, 1918, the second of six children. She started work at Canada Packers when she was 15, then at Eatons and ended her working career as head waitress at the Lotus Restaurant. Mom met Dad at a party at her cousin's home and they were married on August 17, 1938. They moved around within Winnipeg and finally settled in St. Vital on Blenheim Avenue. Mom loved family gatherings, she was a wonderful cook and baker and welcomed everyone. Mom always said, "We'll just put another potato in the pot!" As Mom's dementia progressed it became evident she would need more help and she moved into River Park Gardens in 2007. There she met a dear friend Peggy with whom she had many good times. The family would like to thank the staff at River Park Gardens for their love and care of Mom. In keeping with Mom's wishes, cremation has taken place and a memorial service celebrating her life will be held on Thursday, August 11, 2016 at 1:30 p.m. in the Coutu Funeral Chapel, 680 Archibald Street. In lieu of flowers, if friends so desire, donations in memory of Lois can be made to River Park Gardens, 735 St. Anne's Road, Winnipeg, MB R2N 0C4. Gary - please accept our sincere condolences on the loss of your Mother. Losing one parent is a comma in our story of life while losing both parents is a period. While you Mom may be gone physically, rest assured that she will continue to live on in your memories. Little things that you do will remind her of you and she will always be watching over you and your family. Peter & Marian Roth - Posted by: Peter Roth (Former Co-worker of Gary) on: Aug 12, 2016

So sorry to hear of your mom's passing. She was a lovely lady and made the last years of my mom's life better. They did become fast friends in River Park Gardens and did many crazy things. I still miss my mom, Peggy, and often think of the two of them together and what characters they both were. I am glad they had each other for the time they did. I stopped by to the see your mom a few times but unfortunately she did not recognize me without my mom. My thoughts and prayers are with you and your families. - Posted by: Margaret Frobisher () on: Aug 10, 2016
