MAXIMO GUEVARRA LLANES SR. April 4, 1920 - August 7, 2016 It is with deep sorrow that we announce the sudden passing of Maximo Guevarra Llanes Sr. on Sunday, August 7, 2016, at the age of 96 at the Grace Hospital. Left to cherish his memory are his five children, Maximo Jr. (Charito) and grandchildren, Max Patrick, Patricia and April of Winnipeg; Raymundo (Lea) and grandchildren, Leo and Lauren and great-grandchild Tyson of Winnipeg; Valentin (Emy) and grandchildren, Jonathan and Oliver (Marly) and great-grandchild Isaiah and Michelle of Herndon, VA; Maria Lourdes of Winnipeg; Corazon (Michael) and grandchildren, Jessica and Kevin of Falls Church, VA. Also his sister Paulina L. Cayetano of Pinole, CA. He was predeceased by his loving wife Loreto Llanes; parents, Maria and Andres Llanes; Roberto and Adelaida; son Antonio; and sisters, Justiniana, Ligaya, Lorenza and Norma. Maximo proudly worked for Pepsi Cola in the Philippines for 20 years as a Lathe-man in the maintenance department. When he immigrated to Canada with his wife and children he worked at Ponderosa Steak House, Burger King, and the Winnipeg Pawn Shop. Maximo will always be remembered for his friendly nature and fun loving ways. Viewing/Lamay will be held on Friday, August 12, 2016 at St. Paul the Apostle Roman Catholic Church, 2400 Portage Ave., from 7:00 p.m. to 12:00 midnight with Rev. Eric Giddins to say the prayers. Mass of Christian Burial will be held in the church on Saturday, August 13, 2016 at 10:00 a.m. with Rev. Eric Giddins presiding. Entombment will take place in Queen of Heaven Mausoleum, Assumption Cemetery, 3990 Portage Ave. Reception to follow at St. Paul the Apostle Church hall. Pallbearers will be Clemente Abaya, Efren Arbilo, Tem Chavez, Rene Dimacali, Jun Misa, Felino Padre, Nestor Ponce, and Eugene Ularte.
