LAURENT PAQUETTE August 25, 1921 - August 20, 2016 It is with great sadness in our hearts, that we announce the passing of Laurent Joseph Paquette on August 20, 2016 at the age of 94, at St. Boniface Hospital in Winnipeg, MB. Laurent was the first born child of Dieudonné and Esther Paquette in Aldina, in the D'Amour area of Saskatchewan. He was raised on a farm with livestock and poultry. Laurent moved to Ontario where he worked different jobs, but eventually held the job as Lighthouse Keeper for 22 years on Lake Superior. Laurent would spend the winter months in St.Vital with his parents. It was there that he met his future wife, Irene Ponchon and they were married on December 26, 1970. Laurent and Irene purchased their home on River Road and lived there for many years until deciding to move to the Cathedrale Manor in St. Boniface. For Laurent, it was important to maintain constant contact with all relatives and friends, taking every moment to visit and welcome them into their home. He will be missed. He leaves behind his loving wife, Irene Paquette; his sister Marguerite Henley from Delta, B.C.; his brothers, Guy Paquette and Raymond Paquette, both from North Vancouver; his sister-in-law Bertha Wallack, Elmer Spence from Winnipeg and many nieces, nephews and cousins. Laurent was predeceased by his brothers, Georges, Andre, Gerard, Bernard, Jules, Rosaire and sisters, Sister Marie-Lourdes and Sister Rose. The family would like to express their sincere thanks to the St. Boniface hospital, to all the health care professionals for their kindness and compassion. Your prayers, comfort and support are greatly appreciated. A funeral mass celebrating Laurent's life will be held on Wednesday, August 24, 2016 at 11:00 a.m. in St. Eugene Roman Catholic Church, 1009 St. Mary's Rd., with viewing one hour prior. Interment will follow at the St. Boniface Cemetery. E.J. COUTU & CO. FUNERAL DIRECTORS 680 Archibald Street 204-253-5086
