Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemoryERIC (TORCH) EDEL October 6, 1947 - August 20, 2016 Eric Edel passed away August 20, 2016 at Boundary Trails Hospital in Winkler, Manitoba at the age of 68. Eric is survived by his wife Brenda (nee Hudson); son Rik (Alison) Edel and their children, Reid, Aylie, Dayna; and one daughter Candace (Wayne) Jorgenson and their children, Ivory, Hillary, Ginger Mae and Taylor. Eric was predeceased by his parents, Albert and Julia Edel; brothers, Art and Harvey; and brothers-in-law, Helmut Timm and Don Albrecht. Eric took a lot of joy in the things he loved most in his life: his farm, his friends and family, his music and travelling. Eric and Brenda enjoyed many holidays, especially those taken with friends Gary and Rowena Friesen. He loved attending the Southern Gospel Quartet Conventions, and singing in various groups and choirs - the Winnipeg Golden Chordsmen Barbershop Choir was a definite highlight. He generously volunteered his time and resources in his community - he loved being involved at the Manitoba Stampede where he worked as a Track Director for over 45 years alongside his best friend, Charlie Covernton, whom he also enjoyed a wonderful farming relationship with. The funeral service for Eric Edel will be held on Saturday, August 27, 2016 at 2:00 p.m. at the Morris Fellowship Chapel. The family wishes to thank our dear family, church family, and friends who have supported us in prayer and love throughout Eric's illness. Also thank you to Dr. Woelk and his team of compassionate Doctors and Nurses at CancerCare and the Palliative Care Unit in Boundary Trails Hospital in Winkler. In Eric's memory, donations may be made to the Canadian Food Grains Bank. A freewill offering will also be taken at the service for the CFGB.
