Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemoryCAROL ANNE (VALDINE) COSGROVE (née THORKELSON) It is with deep sadness we announce Valdine's passing in Gimli, Manitoba on August 20, 2016. Valdine was born on July 28, 1936 in Winnipeg, Manitoba. She was predeceased by her her beloved husband Jim Cosgrove; parents Gusti and Jonina; brothers, Clifford and Jack and most heart-breaking of all, her first-born son, John Flood. She is survived by her sisters, Joyce (Vin) and Lorna (Ed); numerous grandchildren; great-grandchildren and many nieces and nephews. She leaves her memories with her children, Debbie (Neil), David (Cara), Gerald (Debbie), Deneen, Heather, Kelly and her special daughter-in-law Wanda. Mom will be remembered for her love of birds. A favourite pastime of Mom's was to sit in her window and just listen to the birds. She could often be heard saying, "I just love the sounds of the birds". She looked forward to each Spring and the return of her "pet" crow. The first caw, no matter what the time of morning, would have her calling her family and friends to say "My crow is back, he found his way". Mom's love for animals began as a young girl, often picking up the town strays and bringing them home to live in her playhouse. Over the years she had many pet cats and dogs and donated faithfully to the Winnipeg Humane Society. Her last real dog, Rusty, brought her so much joy. Mom was deeply saddened when she had to say goodbye to her loyal little best friend. Mom's final days were spent in the comfort of "Poopy" a little brown "stuffy" that she absolutely adored. Mom had a passion for collecting bells. Over the years she acquired hundreds from all over the world. If she knew you were going on a trip she would say "Have fun and bring me back a bell". Mom brought so many laughs to all who knew her with her wit, antics and the many "jackpots" she could never understand how she got herself into - time and time-again. You are deeply loved and will be sadly missed Mom xoxoxo Cremation has taken place and a Celebration of her Life will be held September 10, 2016 from 2:00 to 4:00 p.m. at the Aspen Park Recreation on Maple Street in Gimli. We would like to thank the nurses and staff at Gimli Betel Home and the Gimli Hospital for the wonderful care she received. To the residents at Betel, thank you for bringing her such comfort in the friendships and camaraderie she shared with you all. Friends and relatives are invited to share in photos, stories and condolences for the family by visiting www.integritydeathcare.com . Donations, in lieu of flowers, may be made to the Humane Society of your choice. As I sit in deep reflection Mom, and I listen to the beautiful sounds of the birds, it is as though I am hearing a lullaby somehow - one you'd heard a thousand times and now sing to us all as well. Love and miss you. xox - Posted by: Deneen (Daughter) on: Aug 30, 2016
