Condolences & Memories (5 entries)

  • Roy and Carol stayed with us in Bridlington, East Yorkshire. Roy and my father became good friends over the years, we later visited you in Winnipeg and went to your cabin in the woods for roast chicken and darts. I remember feeding the chipmunks on your decking. Many happy memories of our nearly daily conversations when he was Federal Pioneer. • Gordon, all you said above is so true and eloquently stated. Thank you for putting in words what is felt by so many. Yes, we too remember the fun and very noisy dart and other games. Your generation in our respective cottages and all around the bay did find it difficult to sleep. We do believe that Roy was the quietest of the four of us. Our heartfelt sympathy to Carol and the family. - Posted by: Dennis and Iris Scott (Friends) on: Sep 15, 2016

  • Roy and Carol were very welcoming to me when I became a part of his neighbour's life. Always a drink on hand and offer of food, good laughs and lots of naughty tales. My sincere condolences to the family. So sad to hear of his death. Gunny Tennese - Posted by: Gunny Tennese () on: Sep 14, 2016

  • Roy was a great neighbor, friend and teacher to all his neighbors at BLk17 in Falcon Lake. If you had a question about anything, Roy was the man you went to for advise. A problem with a cottage project?... Roy was only too happy to help. He had a most common sense approach to problems that usually yielded a genius solution.(especially to those of us who knew far less) Always happy and cheerful, he loved the lake and his neighbors loved him. One of my best childhood memories was falling asleep(or trying to) in the next bay over, with the sounds of Roy and Carol and Dennis & Iris Scott laughing and carrying on to the wee hours of the morning with the help of some very loud Harry Belafonte tunes. Roy you are a great man and you will truly be missed. Have a good journey my friend.
