Rob leaves to mourn the joy of his life, his son, Christopher; his wife, Diana; his mother and father, Valerie and Joseph Keenan; his sister Jennifer Holland, brother-in-law Rob Holland; nephews, Tommy and Porter; his mother-in-law and father-in-law, Shirley and Herb Schellenberg; his sister-in-law and brother-in-law, Karen Schellenberg and Sean Neville, niece and nephew, Elly and Jamie; and his brother-in-law David Schellenberg. He also leaves to mourn many aunts, uncles, cousins and friends all across Canada. Rob was predeceased by his grandparents, Joe and Bernice Keenan and Ivan and Glenna Bowness whom he loved dearly. Rob was born in Winnipeg in 1969. His family moved to Regina and Edmonton, and then returned to Winnipeg in 1978. He went to Royal School, Charleswood Junior High and St. Paul's High School. He completed his Bachelor of Science at the University of Manitoba and then moved to Edmonton for graduate school at the University of Alberta. He began his career in Alberta and eventually moved back to Winnipeg in 2002. As a child, Rob spent many of his summers with his grandparents. The family made frequent trips to Prince Edward Island to visit his Grandma and Grandpa Bowness. When in Manitoba he would go to Lake of the Woods with his Grandpa Keenan and his first job was in Grandpa's paint store. Diana and Rob met in 2005 and were married in 2007 in Prince Edward Island. The happiest day of Rob's life was when his baby boy, Christopher was born in 2008. Rob loved travelling, going to the lake, canoeing, kayaking, fishing and golfing. He enjoyed watching American football on TV and the Winnipeg Jets in person. He loved curling, skiing, snorkeling, scuba diving and just lying in the sun. He could barbeque a great steak and cook an awesome omelet. In his memory, pick something that you love, do it, and think fondly of Rob. A memorial service has taken place, and a private internment will take place at a later date. Donations may be made in Rob's memory to the Mood Disorders Association of Manitoba, 100-4 Fort Street, Winnipeg, MB R3C 1C4 or to a charity of choice. The Coutu family in care of arrangements: E.J. Julius and I are so very sorry to hear about Rob! I met Rob and Jenn years ago when I spent the weekend with Kathy and Kyler, and I remember playing outside at night in the beautiful summer moonlight with both of them. It doesn't seem that long ago really, but it was almost 40 years ago...We send our love and sympathies to Rob's family, mom and dad, sister, aunts and uncles, cousins...it's so very sad....take care everyone and God Bless! - Posted by: Jolee and Julius Patkai (Friends to Rob's Aunt Kathy and Uncle Kyler) on: Sep 15, 2016

My Mom called me this morning (Wednesday Sept 14) to tell me about this impossible news about Rob. With her words, a bullet ripped into me. I have not talked to Rob in years, yet so many emotions welled up from nowhere in a second. This one really hurts. He was a good friend in high school and university. We went through so many milestones together in our early years, and had so many insane adventures, you couldn't make the stories up if you tried. I'm sorry we didn't keep in touch, but I'll never forget you. - Posted by: Mark Isleifson (Friend) on: Sep 15, 2016
