AGATHE ADELE MARIE BARNABE (née THERRIEN) 1924 - 2016 On Friday, September 9, 2016 at 23:15 locomotive engineer, Cyrille (Barney) Barnabé Sr. pulled into Foyer Valade to pick up his bride, Agathe Adèle Marie Barnabé (née Therrien). On board to greet her were her parents; Adonai and Eulalie (Fraser) Therrien; siblings, Léo and Hazel, Arzélie and Tony Bourdon, Aurèle, Noël and Bernadette, Céleste, Marie-Thérèse and Gérard Vielfaure; in-laws, Ida and Jacques Saurette, Eugène and Eileen, Irène and Eddy Butra, Noël Bourbonnière, Thérèse Guindon, Marguerite McCulley, Willie Morris and grandson Justin Barnabé. Surviving are in-laws, Lil Therrien, Eva Bourbonnière, Jean-Louis Barnabé, Marie and Henri-Paul Boulianne, Cécile Morris, Jacques Guindon, Bill McCulley and many nephews and nieces. Mom was the last surviving sibling of the Therrien family. Bidding her adieu are her children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Daughter Annette (Dwight) Smith; grandson Patrick; granddaughter Michelle Smith (John Ducharme); stepson Tyler, great-grandchildren, Drake, Logan and Evan; grandson Jean Pierre; granddaughter Nicole (Steve) Willim; great-grandson Avery; son Cyrille Jr. (Stacey), grandson Joel (Chelsea), great-grandson Artemis and great-granddaughter Kezghana, grandson Jared (Alexandra), great-grandchildren, Cole, Madison and Sebastian, grandson Brett; granddaughter Heather; son Pierre (Marie), granddaughter Nathalie (Mike Hreshkosy); great-grandchildren, Russell and Stella; granddaughter Mélanie (Bobby Cromwell); great-grandson Jarrett, granddaughter Chantale (Michel) LaRivière, great-grandchildren Tristan and Alexie, stepchildren Marcel Peloquin (Danielle Comeau), Nicole Peloquin, son Guy (Susan), granddaughter Melissa (Peter Kuchepera), granddaughter Colette (Rob) Strachan and great-grandson Gage. Mom also leaves her dear friend Raymonde Tascona. Mom spent her time cooking and cleaning the house as well as looking after her family. It was very important for her to have the house spic and span, traits passed down to her children. Later on she lectured for Weight Watchers and then she worked at Therrien's Superette working with her brother Céleste and sister-in-law Lil. She was known as the "cookie lady" to the kids on Cabana. To the grandchildren she was known as "Memére cinq piastres." One of Mom's pleasures was travelling to Grand Forks with Dad to do some shopping. In 1974 she travelled to Germany to see her daughter Annette, where together they travelled to Sweden, Denmark and France. The family would like to thank all the nurses and staff from Résidence Despins as well as the nurses and staff of Foyer Valade, merci pour tout! In keeping with Mom's wishes, cremation has taken place and a celebration of her life will be held on Wednesday, September 21, 2016 at 1:00 p.m. in the Coutu Funeral Home, 680 Archibald Street.
