DOREEN BADDON (nee LUCKIW) January 25, 1940 - September 9, 2016 Our beautiful sister, aunt, and great aunt passed away to be with her Lord Jesus Christ. Doreen was an exceptional musician all her life. At the young age of six she placed first out of 91 performers, going on to win many music festival competitions. The adjudicator called her a "little Mozart". Doreen studied Toronto Conservatory piano under the noted professor John Melnyk. Doreen went on to teach piano, and to coach singing. She was proud of her choir at Holy Family Church, for many years creating four part ensembles where the choir excelled with singing beautiful hymns. In later years she enjoyed being part of the choir at St. Ignatius. She served as President of Holy Family Nursing Women's Auxiliary and was involved in many projects. Doreen had a career in the Federal Government, most notably 23 years with Veteran Affairs. She enjoyed travelling to many parts of the world; a highlight was meeting her relatives in Ukraine. Predeceased by her parents Stephen and Josephine Luckiw, an infant sister and her brother-in-law William Kelly of Cleveland Ohio. Left to cherish her memories are her sisters Helen Koniuck (Albert), Marilyn Kelly, of Cleveland Ohio, all her nieces and nephews who loved her, and lifelong friends who were like family to her, Adelle Kulyk, Donna Burnett, Bev Hartley, and Judy Talas. Many thanks to all of Doreen's friends who reached out to her during her last weeks. She expressed true delight about each and every visit. Sincerest thanks for the excellent care Doreen received while at the Grace Hospital. A memorial service will take place at St. Ignatius Parish, 255 Stafford St., on Friday, September 23 at 11:00 a.m. Reception will follow the service with a private interment taking place at a later date. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made in Doreen's memory to St. Ignatius Parish's Elevator Fund. KORBAN FUNERAL CHAPEL 204-956-2193 www.korbanchapel.com
