ROBERT (BOB) MCELROY April 29, 1928 - October 2, 2016 It is with heavy hearts that the family announces the peaceful passing of our beloved husband, father, grandfather and friend, on Sunday, October 2, 2016, after a very courageous battle with cancer. Robert, aged 88, was predeceased by his wife, Patricia, in 2014. Bob was born in Co. Wicklow, Ireland, and served in the R.A.F. before immigrating to Canada in 1958, with his new Bride, Patricia (1934 to 2014). Bob and Pat made Winnipeg their home to raise a family, son Kevin and daughter Lorraine (Darren), and celebrated the birth and Wedding of his only grandchild, Alecia (Rian). Robert spent the last years of his working career with RCMP "D" Division before retiring, with Patricia, to their new home in Sandy Hook, MB, where they lived out their lives together in the small community. Please join us for a Celebration of Life, Saturday, October 8 at 2:00 p.m., in the Lounge, at Hamilton House 475 Hamilton Avenue. Our Family wishes to gratefully thank Dr. George and all the nursing staff, of 3 South at Grace Hospital, for their kindness, care and compassion, they have been our pillar of strength. Condolences & Memories (2 entries)

  • Dear Lorraine, I am very sorry to hear about your Dad. My memories of him, and those of our family, are of a lovely, caring, friendly man. It was a pleasure to have known him and I am only sorry that we had lost touch. I had not been able to contact him on the telephone the last few times I tried, presumably after he was admitted to hospital or a home. With love your cousin Margaret and Tony - Posted by: Margaret Jones (Niece from Wales, UK) on: Oct 07, 2016

  • My deepest condolences to his family. RIP Mr McElroy, much love and respect - Posted by: Marla Prince (Friend ) on: Oct 06, 2016
