Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemoryELAINE BERNICE (FLACK) TAYLOR January 27, 1931 - October 7, 2016 Have you ever met someone who always made you feel like you were important and the story you had to tell was all that mattered to that person? Did you ever meet someone who always had time, food, advice or whatever you needed on a moment's notice? That was Elaine. Elaine Taylor passed away on October 7, 2016 with her children by her side. She will be missed by her children Ian and Jan, Ross and Kerry, Jan and Ivan, and Fran and Greg, as well as her grandchildren Caitlin, Erika, Emily, Niki (Austin), Riley and Jason (Erika and baby Freya), as well as her sister, Shirley Braby and her nieces, nephews and cousins. Elaine was predeceased by her husband, Arnold (Arnie) and her parents. Elaine was born and raised in Regina, Saskatchewan to Gordon and Millicent Flack on January 27, 1931. She completed high school at 16 and moved to Winnipeg, which became her home. She completed her degree in Home Economics at the University of Manitoba and was the Senior Stick in her final year. In 1954, she married Arnie, and over the next eight years had four children. She devoted much of her time to her family. She was a community minded person who volunteered an immense amount of time to The United Way, Christ Church, the parent councils for the schools her children attended, and later Hospice and Palliative Care as well as many other organizations. She entered the workforce after parenting and became the first Executive Director of The Manitoba Community Service Council. Elaine was creative, intelligent, funny, thoughtful and compassionate. She spent her life serving others. She was a great mother, and wife. She was a good friend and neighbour. She was a good community member. She was one of those people who made a difference in other people's lives. The family would like to thank Mom's personal health care aides, who respectfully cared for her over the past year and a half, as well as the excellent staff at Pembina Place. Funeral services will take place on October 15 at St George's Anglican Church (Crescentwood), 168 Wilton St., Winnipeg, MB at 2:00 p.m. A private family interment will take place at a later date. In lieu of flowers, please make donations to The United Way or a charity of your choice. Farewell, beautiful lady. I knew her at university and she was something else. Whoever wrote her obituary had her exactly right, and she apparently stayed that way forever. I was in a skit with her w/ a Robert Burns theme -- we competed for Home Ec with all the other more prestigious/whatever faculties -- and we were the M.C's in our skit, and we were foolish and flakey and hamming it up, and We Won It! She was great fun to work with and to know. Am glad she had such a great life and I truly hope that her granddaughters get the real story of what a straight-shooter and special and unique person their Grama was. My condolences to the whole family. - Posted by: Marjory Olsen Olson (Fellow University Student) on: Nov 16, 2016

To all the family -- In the days and weeks that follow Perhaps you'll often find That even long-lost memories Will slip into your mind, And suddenly your loved one Won't seem so far from you... You'll think of touching stories, The things you used to do, And favorite family moments In which you both took part -- These souvenirs of happy times Will keep you close at heart.
