IVAN (DANNY) DOWLER It is with heavy hearts that we announce, with loving family by his side, Danny Dowler passed away on Sunday, October 9, 2016 at Health Sciences Centre, at the age of 74 years. Danny was predeceased by his parents, Ivan and Iona Dowler; parents-in-law, Dan and Olive Pynoo; brothers, John and Graham, brother-in-law Jack Klassen; and nephew Todd Dowler. He will be lovingly remembered by his wife of 46 years, Diane (nee Pynoo); daughters, Cathy (Cam) and Debbie (Bob); and son Darcy (Christina); grandchildren: Josh, Jordon, Maddie, Sarah (Matt), Sarah, Grace, Mackenzie, Hannah, Lilly and Abby; and great-grandchildren: Owen, Aria and Amelia. Danny is also survived by his sister Judy Klassen; sister-in-law Gayle Dowler; as well as nephews: John (Dolores), Brad (Bess), Greg (Siobhaun) Klassen, Danny Klassen and Tim (Tami); great-nephews and nieces: Chris (Sara), Caleb, Carl, Cheyenne, Lane and Addie Klassen; and special goddaughter, Donna. Dan worked as a salesman for many years for Canada Packers. Then at the age of 55 years, Danny changed his career path and became a successful semi truck owner and operator. It was a career that put a smile on his face and joy in his heart, he loved what he did right up until the end of 2014. This career allowed him to travel and spend time with Cathy and her family. Dan was part owner of thoroughbred horses at Assiniboia Downs, a passion that he treasured along with his daughter, Debbie. Danny enjoyed many years watching Darcy play hockey, it is here he made many lifelong friends whom he cherished, especially Ron and Janice Mann. Dan and Diane enjoyed their place in Lac-du-Bonnet with all of his Heather Game and Fish buddies. Dan cherished many visits with his children and grandchildren, Christmas Eves with the Ryland family, where he played Santa, earlier years travelling with Doug and Pat, two trips to Hawaii with his sister Judy and nephew Danny. Diane would like to thank all of the family, friends, neighbours and former co-workers of hers and Dan's for their care and support. In lieu of flowers, donations in Danny's memory may be made to the Kidney Foundation of Canada. In keeping with Dan's wishes, cremation has taken place and no formal service will be held.
