It is with love and hope that we announce the peaceful passing of our mom at Actionmarguerite-Valade. Mom's journey began on December 17, 1918 in the arms of her parents, Adrien and Émilia (Beaudette) Gay. She arrived at her heavenly Father's home, just as a new day was dawning, at exactly 7:00 a.m., Sunday, October 16, 2016, at the age of 97. She was predeceased by her husband Léo-Paul, their youngest daughter Marcelle, her brothers, sister, brothers and sisters-in-law: André (Herminie) Gay, Léonide (Flavie) Gay, René (Élaine) Gay, Rosarina (Harry) Saykewicz, William "Bill" Dion; and numerous cousins, nephews and nieces. Left to remember our loving mother are: her sister Lucille Dion; her children: Lucille (Frank) Dendwick of Edmonton, AB, Denis of Port Coquitlam, BC, Diane (Guy) Boisjoli of Rockland, ON, Yvette (Lionel) Gagnon of Hagersville, ON, and Jean of Winnipeg, MB; her grandchildren: Paul (Caroline), Michelle (Andrew), Rennée (Steve), Richard (Lisa), Daneige (Jeffrey), Julie (Chad), Renée-Joëlle (Éric), Paul-André, Marcelle-Andrée (Michael), Joseph, Jason, and a growing number of great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren. Our hearts are filled with gratitude for each and every staff member at Actionmarguerite-Valade, and for Dr. José François, for the tender care given to her over the years. Prayers will be held at 7:00 p.m. on Sunday, October 23 at the Desjardins Funeral Chapel, 357 Des Meurons Street. A viewing will begin at 10:00 a.m. on Monday, October 24, followed by the funeral mass at 10:30 a.m. at the Saint-Boniface Cathedral, 190 avenue de la Cathédrale. A luncheon will be served following the interment at Glen Lawn Memorial Gardens, 455 Lagimodière Blvd. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Mom's charity: the White Fathers, Missionaries of Africa\Les Pères Blancs Missionnaires d'Afrique (1640, rue Saint-Hubert, Montréal, QC H2L 3Z3), or to the Alzheimer Society of Manitoba (10 -120 Donald Street, Winnipeg, MB R3C 4G2).
