EVELYN ROSE LOEPPKY - PENNER It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Evelyn Rose Loeppky - Penner. She passed away on October 21, 2016 at the age of 71. She was born on August 24, 1945 in Altona, Manitoba to parents Kay and Henry Loeppky. Rose will be lovingly remembered by her two sons Russell and wife Robin and Keith and partner Andrea as well as her grandchildren Justin, Brooke, Ethan, Eston, and Savannah. She will forever be in the hearts of her two wonderful siblings Gerald and Jean. She was predeceased by her youngest sibling Doug. Rose will also be forever cherished by her partner of three years Larry Weber. She grew up in Altona Manitoba and eventually graduated from MCI in Gretna. Mom always said when she experienced Christ and became born-again at 29 years of age that was the best day of her life and it made all the difference. Her favourite passage in the Bible was John chapter 14 and Psalm 23. She always said her career as a registered nurse was her mission and not just a job. Rose was awarded a gold medal from the Manitoba Doctors Association and retired from nursing in 1994 from the Deer Lodge Center. She remarried the next year and moved to Gimli traveling and sailing and enjoying life. After separating from her husband, Red River Community College hired her as a part-time teaching instructor in Gimli. There she taught nurses aids to care for sick people in their homes through homecare and nursing facilities. After six years of this she retired for the second time. Her next years were filled with volunteering at EBN-Evergreen Basic Needs. She cared for all the needy in the Interlake. She always talked about the wonderful people and friendships she made there. While volunteering she came to know Larry Weber. They spent a great deal of time together. He was her companion for the last three years of her life. There will be a memorial service on Saturday, October 29, 2016 for Rose with only immediate family and close friends, Pastor Melanie Kauppila will be officiating the service. Condolences & Memories (3 entries)

  • I am so sorry to hear of Rose's passing. My Deepest Condolences to her family and others she held dear. I remember Rose as a very caring nurse, an elegant soft spoken person with a "wicked" sense of humour. Together we enjoyed shopping, lunching and many interesting and deep conversations over cups of coffee accompanied by lovely sweets. Rest in Peace, Dear Rose. Memories of our times together will be lasting and are cherished. - Posted by: Doreen Mihalus (Former co-worker) on: Oct 27, 2016

  • Our deepest Sympathy to Gerald and Jean. Although I was closer in age with Doug, I have fond memories of working with both Rose and Jean at the " Dairy Dell " in Altona one summer.
