In Canada she met and fell in love with Bohdan Luhowy and they were married shortly thereafter. Leonida worked at New Pathway Ukrainian-Canadian Newspaper once settled back in Winnipeg, however her focus was always on her family. Leonida, or "Baba" as she was affectionately known, loved to travel and spent countless summers in Radium Hot Springs, BC. Above all, Baba loved her family and especially her grandchildren; Mikal, Nicholas and Alyssa, who were her entire world. She is remembered by all those with whom she came into contact for her sense of humour, kindness and generosity for which, it often seemed, there were no bounds. The family would like to extend a special thank you to family doctor, Dr. George Balko, for all the years he struggled to keep her healthy. They also wish to thank all the staff at Middlechurch Personal Care Home for their outstanding professionalism and incredible compassion.
