Unfortunately I am only seeing this obituary now after reading that of her son. I often substituted at the school where Shirley worked and always found her to be kind, helpful, having a great sense of humour and so wonderful with the students. I am so sorry to hear of her passing and now that of her son as well. My condolence to all family members. - Posted by: ELFIE MARTENS (CO-WORKER) on: Jul 18, 2017

I worked with Shirley for several years at David Livingstone Community School. She didn't take any lip from the kids, but they knew she really cared about them. So many laughs with her. My favourite memory is Shirley and I doing an impromptu square dance in the hallway during a country version of Oh Canada! It was so sad when she had to leave due to her declining health-she was really missed by the staff and the students. My sincere condolences to her family; hold on tight to all the wonderful memories, they'll help you through this difficult time. - Posted by: Barbara Schneider (past co-worker) on: Nov 17, 2016

Shirley, I will never forget how you made me laugh, how you loved Cecil and just how goofy you could be. Mark and I still talk about the time you were in back seat of the truck and you thought Mark was an $*@ cause he didn't hold the door open for you when he got out. You had your own door to open....omg it was priceless. You will be missed greatly by Cecil. Who now will put him in his place. Rest peacefully and watch over those who showed you the love you deserved. - Posted by: January McTavish (friend) on: Nov 16, 2016
