NATASHA (NETTIE) CARR (neé SZENDIUK) July 10, 1932 November 19, 2016 It is with great sadness we announce the passing of Natasha (Nettie) Carr on Saturday November 19, 2016. Natasha was pre-deceased by her loving husband Donald Victor Carr and her parents Nicholas and Mary Szendiuk. Left to cherish her memory is her son Dean (Mrssnivia); grandchildren, Kimberly Dawn Levesque, Kari Lynn Marie Lee, and Kerry Donald Carr; great- grandchildren, Kaylie, Christian, Tyler, Nathanial, and Jayden; cousin Carol Woroby (Andy); childhood friend Sonia (Sunny) Whincup, long-time neighbour Marie Kasian, friends Pat Payne and Jo-Anne Scott, and many more. Natasha was born July 10, 1932 in Winnipeg. She married Don, the love of her life, on March 1, 1966. They made their home in Saskatoon but came back to Winnipeg when Don became ill with cancer. Natasha had a perpetual youthfulness. She was a classy lady who lived life with passion and flair. She did not adhere to clothing styles, rather she defined a style that was unique to herself, to the admiration of many. After Don passed away, Natasha traveled to Cuba and fell in love with this country and its people and made it her second home. Natasha was a kind and generous person who loved people and animals. Many neighbourhood dogs would stop by for treats. Squirrels would wait at her door, birds would sit on her fence and call her, and cats delighted in all the "activity" in her yard on Glenwood Cres. The family would like to thank Dr. Caners and staff of N3 West Concordia Hospital for their care. Also a big thank-you to the tenants and staff of Concordia Village where Natasha lived and thoroughly enjoyed her past three years. Natasha loved the arts, including dance. If you desire, donations may be made in her memory to Masterworks Dance Studio (a branch of Youth For Christ) to enable children from Winnipeg's inner city to participate in their dance, music and art programs. Send donations to Masterworks Dance Studio, 333 King St., Winnipeg, MB, R3B 0N1. Natasha also loved animals and regularly supported the Winnipeg Humane Society. These donations can be sent to The Winnipeg Humane Society, 45 Hurst Way, Winnipeg, MB, R3T 9Z9. A celebration of life will take place on Friday, November 25, 2016, 12:30 p.m. at Korban Funeral Chapel, 907 Main St., with Pastor Hermann Dueck officiating. Forever in our hearts. • We were truly saddened to hear of Natasha's passing on Nov 19th. We were in Cuba staying at the Kawama in Natasha's room 901. Our family has many fond memories over the many years visiting with Natasha at the Kawama and we were amazed at how she carried herself and loved Cuba and her many Cuban friends.Dean when we informed Leida of your Mother's passing she asked that we passed onto you the love and condolences from herself, the Management and Staff of the Kawama and all of her Cuban friends. On behalf of Irene, myself and our family we offer our heartfelt condolences. - Posted by: Jeff & Irene Houghton and Family (Kawama Friends) on: Dec 09, 2016

  • My sincere condolences to son, Dean, and his family, to Carol and Andy, and to all the dear friends that knew and loved my special friend, Nettie. Our friendship of 76 years was always loving and sincere. I looked forward to Nettie's visits to Phoenix, AZ every spring or fall for 25 years - our dinners out, our regular shopping trips, sun tanning in the back yard and just having fun together. I will miss you, My Dear Friend. Rest in Peace. Love always,Sunny - Posted by: Sonia (Sunny) Whincup (Life-long friend) on: Nov 24, 2016
