Date of Passing: Nov 30, 2016
Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemoryTHEODORE N. CHICK Quietly and peacefully on November 30, 2016, our strong and loving husband, father and grandfather passed away at the age of 88. Ted was born in Point Douglas, Winnipeg where he spent his formative years. He was educated at St. Paul's College, where he excelled in athletics and played football for the Winnipeg Rods. During the war years, Ted went away to cut pulpwood in Northwest Ontario. He then guided fishermen on Longbow Lake and Lake of the Woods, Ontario. Ted craved adventure, living in Hawaii, Las Vegas and driving several times to and throughout Mexico before travel was easily accessible to all. Ted began working for Pitney Bowes, but spent his life's career as a loyal employee of Imperial Oil Ltd. He met and married his love, Florence, in 1961. They soon had two children and Ted passed on his love for the outdoors and adventure to both of them. He remained an avid sportsman, sharing his passion for hunting and fishing with his son. They loved duck hunting together in the fall and especially walking the uplands for Ted's favourite bird, the sharp tailed grouse, or chicken, as he liked to call them. After his retirement, Ted went back to the oil business for a few years, becoming an independent contractor for the Winnipeg Pipeline. Ted Sr. will be forever missed and loved by his wife of 55 years, Florence, son Theodore (Carrie) and grandson Sam of East St. Paul, Manitoba, daughter Charlotte (Dr. Hugh MacDonald) and twin grandsons Jack and Luke, of New Hampshire, USA. The family would like to thank the wonderful nurses and staff of the Concordia Hospital, 3rd floor, Dr. David Martin, Dr. Debrah Wirtzfeld, and especially Steven of Home Care who truly and selflessly cares. If so desired, memorials may be made in Ted's honour to Wounded Warriors or Ducks Unlimited Canada. Courage is being scared to death... and saddling up anyway. - John Wayne Korban Funeral Chapel, 204-956-2193
