BENITO T. VERGATA August 22, 1934 - December 1, 2016 Benito, our incredible Nonno passed away on December 1, 2016, age 82 years, with his family by his side, after a hard fought battle against multiple health complications. We are grateful for the help we received from the various healthcare providers. Benito came to Winnipeg from Italy in 1958, opening the doors for his brothers and sisters. He met his devoted wife Leonora and together they started a family and opened a tailoring and dry-cleaning business. Benito loved gardening and spending much of his time at his 140 acre farm. Benito leaves behind his wife, and children: Martino Vergata and Teresa (Smith) and her husband Ian Smith; his five grandchildren: Bryan, Chris, Tyson, John, and Shannon, as well as seven great-grandchildren who became his greatest source of pride and happiness. Our incredible Nonno will be greatly missed but pieces of what he has brought us will live on forever through his family. Mass of the Resurrection will be celebrated on Wednesday, December 7, 2016 at 11:00 a.m. at Holy Rosary Roman Catholic Church, 510 River Avenue, with Rev. Father. Sam Argenziano, celebrant. For those who wish, condolences will be offered one hour prior to mass. Entombment in Glen Eden Memorial Gardens, 4477 Main St., West Saint Paul, MB. A reception for family and friends will be hosted at Mosaic Reception Centre, 1839 Inkster Blvd., after the Entombment. If friends so desire, in lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Winnipeg Humane Society, 5 Hurst Way, Winnipeg, MB R3T 0R3.
