LAURA LENA ANDERSON 1928 - 2016 It is with great sadness we announce the peaceful passing of our beloved mother and grandmother Laura Lena Anderson on December 6, 2016 at the age of 88. Laura and her husband Bill moved from Assiniboia, SK to Winnipeg where they spent most of their over 65 years of marriage. Laura and Bill lived in the same home for 50 years. She loved tending to her yard and almost had it the way she liked it! She enjoyed visits from her grandkids and spoiling them as much as possible! Laura was predeceased by her parents Frank and Caroline Silzer; her brother Larry; sisters, Ella, Hilda, and Verna; and her son Colin. She is survived by her husband Bill Anderson; her daughter Darcine (John) Oades of Winnipeg; and son Blair Anderson of Calgary along with her four grandchildren, Kristian (Chelsea) Nespor, Courtney Nespor, Logan Anderson, and Taylor Anderson, all of Calgary. She is also survived by her three sisters, Bertha Hysuick of Moose Jaw, Edna Rowe of Saskatoon, and Clara Parry of Nanaimo, along with numerous nieces, nephews, and in-laws who were a very close part of her family. As requested by family, a memorial service for Laura will take place in the spring of 2017. Donations in Laura's memory will be gratefully accepted for Parkinson Canada (www.parkinson.ca) to aid in the battle against the ailment that her husband has been battling for several years. She will be interred at Chapel Lawn Cemetery, 4000 Portage Avenue, next to her son Coke. For those who wish to sign the online Guest Book please visit our website.

Condolences & Memories (5 entries)

  • Dear Darcy, Blair, and family, We don’t know how we got so lucky as to live next door to your parents for 50 years. They handled good times and bad with intelligence and grace. They were always there for us, no matter what we needed — cleaning up our flooded basement when we were away, or locating an escaped gerbil hiding behind the fridge! Summer will not be the same without your mom knocking on our door with a bowl of freshly picked strawberries or other goodies from her garden, or having us come and share the joy of her magnificent roses. Sincere condolences, Helen & Paul Stein - Posted by: Helen and Paul Stein (Friends) on: Dec 19, 2016

  • We are so sorry to hear this sad news. Aunt Laura will always be remembered as the Happy Aunt. She always wore a smile and was full of life and laughter! Whenever she would come for a visit, she would always be talking and laughing and telling us stories of her and our mom growing up and all the antics they got into. We will always treasure our memories of her and her stories....... She will live on forever in our hearts. Our hearts and prayers are with you all at this time...... - Posted by: Morgan & Sheila Parry (Nephew & Wife) on: Dec 09, 2016

  • It was so sad to hear of your Mom's passing. We have such beautiful memories of her and your Dad. The first time I met them both was at Clarence and Maggie's 50th Anniversary. The next night was Hans and Sis's 50th Anniversary as well. We always had fun visiting at Slim and Jessie's and Beryle and George's. And it wasn't a family trip home without a few card games at the Bjerke's. I won't ever forget the Bjerke family reunion at Wood Mountain ... the family dance, ball games, cribbage tournaments and the presentation of the dart trophy, to the Anderson family. It was a fun filled weekend like all the others. Sending a long distance hug to all of you and especially your Dad. Thoughts and prayers are with all of you. - Posted by: Pearl Bjerke (my late husband and her husband Bill were first cousins) on: Dec 09, 2016

  • I'm so sorry for your loss. Mrs Anderson's son Coke was my first friend, back when I was about 3-4 when we were their neighbors back on Clifton St. Bill and Laura and my parents would get together to play Bump. Coke and I would sit on the floor by the hour playing with our Matchbox cars and Dinky Toys. Most recently Laura had contacted me when she was packing to move from their home. Dropping by brought back many fond memories. Laura gave me several boxes of toys for my granddaughters. I wish she could have seen their faces as they looked through all the little doll house sized furniture and kitchen items. She will be sadly missed. - Posted by: Bob Winslade (Family Friend) on: Dec 09, 2016
