ANTONIO CHILELLI On December 9, 2016 our beloved husband, father and grandfather Antonio passed away peacefully at the age of 85 years. He was predeceased by his parents Giuseppe and Erminia; brothers, Carlo and Franco; sisters, Lucia and Maria. Antonio will be forever loved and deeply missed by his wife of 57 years Flavia; son Giuseppe (Lauren); daughter Erminia (Louis); grandchildren, Caitlin and Antonio; brothers, Pino, Gino, brother and sisters-in-law, numerous nieces and nephews in Winnipeg, Montreal, Toronto and Italy. Antonio was born on April 15, 1931 in Mendicino, Cosenza, Italia. After graduation, he joined the air force. In his search for a new life and to follow the love of his life, Antonio came to Sioux Lookout, Ontario, Canada in 1959. He married Flavia on December 26, 1959 and started working for CN Railway. In 1963, Antonio picked up his family and moved to Winnipeg where he became employed at Standard Aero as an airline mechanic for 33 years until his retirement. Antonio's pride and joy were his grandchildren. He shared with them the love of his culture, encouraging them by showing them with his involvement in the community; volunteering at Holy Rosary Church, belonging to the Knights of Columbus, Italian Seniors group at Centro Caboto, Centro Caboto Bocce League, Folklorama and numerous other committees in the Italian community. His community involvement continued with zest until he no longer could, playing his last scopa game on Friday at the Centro with his friends. He loved the outdoors enjoying his garden and his cottage at St. Laurent. Mass of the Resurrection will be celebrated on Tuesday, December 13, 2016 with condolences at 10:00 a.m. and Mass to follow at 11:00 a.m. at Holy Rosary Roman Catholic Church, 510 River Avenue, with Rev. Father Sam Argenziano officiating. Special thanks are extended to the staff of the Victoria General Hospital, home care workers and Palliative care which made our fathers last days more comfortable. A special thank you to Dr. McClure who went above and beyond showing her compassion and support. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Antonio's memory to CancerCare Manitoba.
