Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemoryGERALD (JERRY) MCKNIGHT Gerald (Jerry) McKnight of Tudor House passed away at the age of 75 on Tuesday, December 20, 2016 after a lengthy illness. He will live on in the memory of his loving wife of 51 years, Dory (Doris), their beloved children Ryan (Peter) of Toronto, ON, and April (Bruce) and step-grandson Austin of Sechelt, BC. Also mourning his loss are his brother Ron (Linda) of London, ON, and sisters Darlene (Peter) Daciuk and Irene (Richard) Lachance both of Oshawa, ON, in-laws Ted (Linda) Widish of Tillsonburg, ON, Elsie Anguish of Victoria, BC, Morris (Maureen) Widish of Creston, BC, and Darcie (Heidi) Widish of Winnipeg, as well as many treasured nieces and nephews. Jerry was born on December 16, 1941 and raised in Oshawa, ON, where he began his career as a tool and die maker and met his wife Dory. They moved to Calgary for nine years where their two children were born. In 1975 Jerry and family moved to Selkirk to be closer to his roots and explore life as a gentleman farmer. He worked at the Manitoba Rolling Mills until his retirement and continued to reside in the community until his passing. Throughout his life Jerry had many interests, mostly sports related, and participated in some form of athletic activity for as long as he could. His biggest passion was running and he made many close friends through participation in marathons. Golf was his second love, which he stated he enjoyed doing poorly. His score never was important to him and in fact, was often very creative when keeping his score. Jerry was a man of great integrity and patience, possessed a great sense of humour, had compassion for others and showed tremendous grace during his illness. The family would like to thank the angels at Tudor House that cared for him during his illness, the staff at the Selkirk and District General Hospital that cared for him during his many crises, and his devoted friends that visited him at Tudor House. A celebration of Jerry's life will be held on Wednesday, January 4, 2017 at 1:00 p.m. at Gilbart Funeral Home (309 Eveline St., Selkirk, MB). In lieu of flowers, please consider donating to Jerry's favourite charity, Society for Manitobans with Disabilities (825 Sherbrook St., Winnipeg, MB). Gilbart Funeral Home, Selkirk in care of arrangements. www.gilbartfuneralhome.com
