CALOGERO COLLERONE May 29, 1929 - January 12, 2017 It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of our beloved, father and grandfather, Calogero Collerone. He was predeceased his wife, Giuseppa, less than one year ago. He leaves behind his son, Joe (Darlene) and two granddaughters, Jennifer and Stacey. Calogero was born in Barrafranca, Sicily in 1929. Growing up was hard and like all Italian men at that time he served in the army for 18 months. He was very proud of being in the medical field of the army. He met mom when they were quite young and it was love at first sight. Grandpa did not approve. After many years of proving he was the right guy - grandpa approved and they were married for 59 years. Giuseppa and Calogero and Joe immigrated to Canada in 1966. They embraced Canada and integrated themselves in the community and work. Calogero worked many jobs and finally found a great job working at Blackwood Beverages. They retired and they had lots of fun spending time at their cottage in Matlock. They both loved gardening and had big gardens for many years. The family would like to thank the staff at Seven Oaks Hospital and especially everyone at the dialysis unit. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Tuesday, January 17, 2017 at Holy Rosary Roman Catholic Church, 510 River Ave., at 10:30 a.m., Rev. Father Gerry Ward celebrant.
