JOAN PEARL MCLEOD
Date of Passing: Jan 12, 2017
Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemoryJOAN PEARL MCLEOD On Thursday, January 12, 2017 the Lord called home the most giving, caring and compassionate woman, Joan Pearl McLeod, beloved wife and best friend to Winston McLeod. She is loved so deeply by her two sons and their families, Brian and Tracey McLeod and their son and daughter, Jordan and Nicole McLeod (Blake) and Tyrone and Krista McLeod and their son Rylee. She will forever be missed by her sisters and their families, Betty (Mac), Joyce (Keith), Fran aka Cookie (Ray), Katie (Leo), Diane (Tom), Anne (Al) and her sister at heart in Mississippi, Diane (Jelly). Her brothers Donald and Brian (Annick) will also miss their big sister. Her extended family through marriage includes Myrna (Bud), Linda, Mel (Barb), Jimmy (Velma) and all of their children. Anyone that knew Joan would remember that she would give you the absolute truth (whether or not you wanted to hear it was another story), the shirt off of her back and her last dime. She worked for many years as a nurse at the Selkirk Mental Hospital and was loved and respected by her many co-workers and especially the patients that she cared for. She was one of the most compassionate and caring people, she could always be counted on to lend a hand, an ear to listen and she always had her arms open for a much needed hug. She kept her life full and busy, constantly volunteering for events around the community, whether it was a flee market, a church luncheon, the Lions Club and every sporting event imaginable. She truly lived her life in the service of others. A Celebration of her Life will be held on Wednesday, January 18 at 1:00 p.m. in the Selkirk Christ Church, with a lunch to follow. As well, she has always wished for her friends and family to wear bright and colourful clothing to her life celebration. Thank you for doing your best to honour her wishes. In lieu of flowers and in memory of Joan, please consider a donation to the Stars Winnipeg Base, 155 West Hanger Road, Winnipeg, R3J 3Z1, or go online to www.stars.ca. While working with Joan,I asked where she grew up? She replied "You would never know a place like Foley" it's a little place west of Husavik."Oh yeah" I said..."My father was born there" we laughed and had such good times.Words can never describe the loss of one so well loved except to say Joan will always be missed and remembered as the awesome person she was. - Posted by: Dale/Lyle Martin (Friends) on: Jan 17, 2017
