CHRISTOPHER (CHRIS) VERDEN March 19, 1960 - January 16, 2017 With sadness the family announces the sudden passing of Chris on January 16, 2017. He leaves to mourn his beloved wife Rose of 20 years; mother-in-law Dorothy; sons Alex and Tim; daughters Kristy and Jennifer; sisters Paula (Dave) and Janice (Norman); nieces Elani (Derrek), Michelle and Niki (Mike); nephew Ken and cousin Bill. He was predeceased by his father Paul Verdenik, mother Peggy Verdenik, brother Roger Verdenik and Aunty Anne Kostiuk Chris was the best husband to Rose. He was a hard-working determined man, starting his business in 1977, making so many friends along the way. After you met him you had a friend for life. He loved his work and took tremendous pride in what he did. He was always going the extra mile for anybody he came in contact with. Putting a smile on everyone's face with the jokes he told. Later in life his passion was classic cars, buying and selling them even taking trips to Toronto with his friend Ed. His other joy in life was the cabin in Winnipeg Beach where he would relax on the deck, in his hammock, watch movies or sit by the fire. His greatest accomplishment was working tirelessly to restore his '39 Chevy and drive around Winnipeg Beach where countless people would stop to chat with him about his car. Special thanks to dear friend Lori for her support and kindness in this time of need. God now has "the greatest furniture mover in the business" A memorial service will be held on Tuesday, January 24, 2017 at 1:00 p.m. in the chapel of Voyage Funeral Home, 220 Hespeler Avenue at Henderson Highway. "Death came like a thief in the night - I will miss you forever" - Love Rose www.voyagefuneralhome.com

Condolences & Memories (22 entries)

  • CHRIS GAVE ME A CHANCE TO BE A PROFESSIONAL MOVER, AND HE DID A VERY GOOD JOB.I WORKED FOR HIM FOR 8 WONDERFUL YEARS. I REMEMBER WHEN WE WENT TO DAUPHIN TO FILL A APARTMENT(100 APARTMENTS), SO WE HAD TO BACK UP TO A TRAIN BOX CAR, LOAD THE TRUCK, BRING IT TO THE SITE AND UNPACK IN 30 BELOW FOR 2 DAYS STRAIGHT ...WE HAD FUN...I WILL MISS YOU BRO. - Posted by: john hebert (old furniture helper from the 90s) on: Apr 12, 2018

  • Well over ten moves for my daughter, husband and I. Chris was the best part of the move and always had the biggest smile, no matter what. We will miss him terribly. So hard to believe that he isn’t here. Every time I see a big yellow truck or black convertible, I think of Chris. He loved Rose and his family so, so much. He was a kind man and the hardest worker that I have ever met. Until we meet again my Friend:). As he would say...”Hey Les, guess what?” - Posted by: Leslie Inglis (Friend and Satisfied Client) on: Mar 04, 2018

  • I am heartbroken. Chris was such a part of my life for so many years and I guess I just assumed he always would be. My heart goes out to you, Rose. No more bad jokes, no more gong show moves, no more "I'm on my way, 20 minutes", no more ready smile when he finally does arrive. I will miss you, Chris. - Posted by: Allan Hamer (Friend and client) on: Mar 30, 2017

  • I knew Chris for almost 30 years and used his residential moving services at least half a dozen times. I only found out last night that he passed and am truly shocked and sorrowed. Chris was a great guy, quick with a joke or an amusing story, and I always looked forward to watching him and his crew move my stuff. I can't imagine a moving crew as entertaining as they were; constantly yelling and badgering one another, it was like the keystone cops on steroids - but nothing ever got damaged, OMG they were surreal. I miss you Chris, you were the best! - Posted by: Clay Cracklen (Client) on: Mar 14, 2017

  • This is very shocking news...Chris and his "crew" were a magical combination who could move anything you requested and make it entertaining. They moved us several times both in business and personal including my children and friends. I was always confident knowing I was in the best care with Chris at the lead. He cared big time. Our thoughts are with his family, Jack and Hamish. - Posted by: Sheldon and Marlene Sturrey () on: Feb 09, 2017

  • When my Family and I heard about his passing we were in shock. Chris was an amazing person and he has always been one of my favourite people since I was a child, I was 2yrs old when he came into my life. When he used to call and I would answer, he would always say "Hi sweetie, it's Uncle Chrissy calling." I will miss chatting with him when he came into our shop and I will miss the laughs that I always got when he was doing moving jobs for us with the guys, I always said that they deserved their own tv show. Rest in peace to a beautiful soul taken way too soon and the Harck Family give our deepest condolences to the rest of the Family. - Posted by: Mercedes Harck (Family Friend ) on: Feb 04, 2017

  • Hi, I've known Chris for many, many years. I can tell you over the years, you couldn't meet a nicer guy. Friendly, outgoing, hardworking and always willing to lend a hand to friends. He has moved me now twice, and a very meticulous mover in fact. Always had something funny to say. He always had a joke to share, a big smile and a laugh to go along with it. He moved me over 20 years ago and I had just sold one of my cars. While we were moving I took off my jacket and left several thousands of dollars in my pocket and I left it on the fence.. after we were done moving, I went to pay Chris and he said "Johnny you left it outside on the fence". We went back, found it, I paid him and over all the years every time I saw him he always would bring up that funny story. With love, John Prins and family. - Posted by: John Prins (Friend) on: Jan 22, 2017
