VERNON LLOYD NEUFELD It is with heavy hearts we announce the passing of Vernon Lloyd Neufeld, on January 24, 2017. Vern was born on August 27, 1961 in Winnipeg, Manitoba. He was predeceased by his mother-in-law Frieda Buhr, and survived by his wife of 35 years, Valerie, his two daughters Diana (Jeff), Chelsea (John), his two grandsons, Asher and Jaxson, his parents Ben and Kathy, his father-in-law John Buhr, his 11 brothers and sisters and their spouses, and many, many others who were dear to his heart. Vern loved his family, and he showed it every day of his life. He took pride in his girls, always being involved with any sport they were in. He was a youth pastor for many years, and loved and adored each and every one. In 2008, Vern became a grandfather (Zeide) to his grandson Asher, who was everything to him, and later in 2013 another grandson Jaxson arrived. Vern's summers were a time of enjoying the cabin at Twin Lakes Beach. Vern worked as an Inspector for the CFIA, retiring in 2015, making many great friendships along the way. Vern made friends wherever he went. You could hear his laugh for blocks. Even after retiring due to health reasons, he still had a zest for life and had that beautiful smile that lit up any room. Vern remained faithful to his Lord and is now enjoying his coffee up in Heaven. We are going to miss you Vern! Until we meet again. A celebration of life will be held February 2, 2017 at 2:00 p.m. at Chapel Lawn Funeral Home, 4000 Portage Avenue. In lieu of flowers, donations to CancerCare can be made. Condolences & Memories (5 entries)

  • Sorry to hear Val and family. I had the pleasure of working with Vern in his company. Lots and lots of good laughs. Very heartbroken to hear the news. Guess God needed an assistant chef in heaven so he called him. - Posted by: Robert Lukow (Friend) on: May 06, 2017

  • I was shocked and saddened when a Winnipeg colleague told me about Vern. We attended some training courses together over the last few years, and Vern was always such a nice guy. I remember his smiling eyes and friendly personality. My deepest condolence to his family and friends. - Posted by: Marnie Polansky (co-worker) on: Apr 19, 2017

  • I knew Vern for many years through work, and he was always a pleasure to work with. He had such a positive attitude about work and life. If I ever needed technical advice on how to inspect potatoes, I always called Vern. I remember one trip we made together to Ottawa for training. We visited Parliament Hill, and Vern had an idea to go through a side door to look at the Christmas trees. He was soon chased out by the guards, and we had a good laugh on the way home. - Posted by: Christina (co-worker) on: Feb 03, 2017

  • My deepest sympathies Val and family. Vern was a great guy to work with and you could always count on his booming laugh at the start of each day. I always enjoyed listening to his stories of the weekly family dinners and the special recipes that were made with loving hands. Rest in peace buddy. - Posted by: Glenn (Friend) on: Jan 28, 2017
