Being diagnosed with cancer on Thursday, January 26, 2017 and passing on Monday, January 30, 2017 his battle the disease was short. Richard touched so many lives; he truly loved life and lived it to the fullest, his way. The incredible response on such short notice to Richard's illness was a testimony to his good heart, his spirit and the love that surrounded him. Rick was predeceased by his father Joel, his mother Jeanne, his big brother Maurice Leclaire, and his brother-in-law Bill Mullen. Richard is survived by his siblings Johanne Leclaire, Colette (Marc) Courcelles, Sharon (Leclaire) Seal, Jerry Leclaire and Patti (Eddy) Briesbois, sister-in-law Donna Leclaire, and his stepchildren Karly and Cory. He will be greatly missed by his many nieces, nephews, cousins and all those who touched his life, including his AA family. Special thanks to Daxx and Natina and many others (too many to mention) for the special care and support provided throughout Richard's experiences. Additional gratitude goes out to the incredible staff at the Health Sciences Centre including the extraordinary support provided by Dr. Jillian Horton and her team. A celebration of life will be held for Richard on Wednesday, February 1, 2017, at 11:00 a.m. at the TransCanada Centre, 1 Rivard St., Ile des Chenes, Manitoba. The doors open at 10:00 a.m. We look forward to hearing about your adventures with Rick. In lieu of flowers, donations in Richard's memory may be made to The Addictions Foundation of Manitoba. My sincerest condolences to all of Rick's family (including his friends). I met Rick back in the '80's and whenever I'd see him then and now, he always loved to tease and laugh. He is in good company with some of his ol' friends - I'm sure they are sharing their stories, laughing and possibly even shaking their heads. Sending big cyber hugs to all of you! - Posted by: Gisèle Gillis (friend) on: Jan 31, 2017

To the beautiful Leclaire family, if not for Richard I would never have had you all in my life. He was a good hearted man and I have many memories of our time together. He taught me how to drive a car, he bought me my first motorcycle, my first travels were with him and he taught me how to make a mean steak sandwich on pumpernickle bread. I have a lot of firsts to thank him for, I was young and naive but he taught me how to be strong. Although tumultuous at times we had a love that was very special. No matter what the history was he was always in my heart. I am grateful that I still have you all in my life and that I got to say my goodbyes before he passed. I love you all very much and am heart broken for your many losses in the last few years. Wendy - Posted by: Wendy Lagrou (long time friend) on: Jan 31, 2017
