Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemoryGLADYS EILEEN PAPSON (nee HUMPHREYS) It is with deep sadness that the family of Gladys Eileen Papson announce her passing on January 31, 2017. Mom was predeceased by her childhood sweetheart and the love of her life, Alfred in 2010. Mom is survived by her daughters Joanne (Bob), Judy (Ron), Lynda (John), and Lorraine (Russ); grandchildren Lesley (Dean), Cathy, Jennifer (Gray), Jeff, Stacey (Mike), Mike, Karen (Lou), Darryl (Brenda), Jackie, Jim (Amanda), and her great-grandchildren Stephanie, Julia, Maya, Justine, Sarah, Jaxson, Sadie, Kelsey, Dylan, Jack, Koen, Turi, Shai, Ava, and Aliyah, as well as many nieces and nephews. Mom was born in her family home at 173 Morley Ave. in Winnipeg on March 2, 1923. She attended Riverview, Lord Roberts and Kelvin High Schools. She worked at Monarch Overalls, Eatons COD office, and as a bank teller. Once her family arrived she became our stay-at-home mom. She was a member of St. Albans Anglican Church and later St. Judes in Grand Marais. Mom and Dad spent many wonderful summers at Grand Beach at 4-3rd Avenue, the cottage they built together during the winter of 1959. By 1975 they were busy building their permanent home on Fey Road in Grand Marais. They were a very adventurous couple, travelling to England, Scotland, Mexico, Belize, Guatemala, Spain, Portugal and the Canary Islands. Until recently Mom resided at Riverside Lions where everyone was so good to her. Also many thanks to the staff at River Park Gardens who were so caring and compassionate to Mom during her last days. Besides having a great sense of humour, our Mom was a fun loving, outgoing, kind and caring soul who was loved by many. We will love and miss you forever Mom. You were the best! In keeping with Mom's wishes there will be no service. If you wish, donations may be made to the Manitoba Fire Fighters Burn Fund. E.J. Coutu Co. Funeral Directors in care of arrangements.

It was during my childhood that I knew Mrs Papson, having been friends with one of her daughters. Whenever I visited their home, Mrs Papson was always so positive and often humourous. It seems she was always on her feet doing something or working in her garden. She was a hard worker and I wondered if she was in perpetual motion ongoing. But I have to say that she was a cheery worker. And she could really laugh! It was almost contagious. I can see why she lived as long as she did! To her daughters and grandchildren and extended family - my condolences and to also say you were so blessed to have had such a wonderful Mom, Mon-in-law, and grandmother. Fondly, Diane - Posted by: Diane Voss ( Kraushar) (Family acquaintance, friend ) on: Feb 05, 2017

Our family and the Papson family were great friends when we were kids, spending our summers together at Grand Beach. "Auntie Gladys and Uncle Alf" were always lots of fun and fun loving. I remember flying behind the car in the winter, piled onto a toboggan through Grand Marais! Our thoughts and prayers are with Joanne, Judy, Lynda and Lorraine and their families. - Posted by: Susan Clubb (Lorraine's friend) on: Feb 05, 2017
