MAUREEN HUOT Peacefully on Sunday, February 12, 2017, after a brief battle with cancer, Maureen Huot, at the age of 73 years, passed away at the Riverview Health Centre, with her family by her side. Maureen was a loving wife, mother and grandmother and will be sadly missed by her husband of almost 52 years, Maurice; daughter Christine Vanwijn, husband Ben and daughters Britney and Ashley; and son Edmond. Predeceased by her parents Maurice and Bernice Taillieu (Vandenberghe) and her younger brother James (Jimmy), Maureen is also survived by her brother Edmond (Sharron), his four sons and their families and many, many friends. Born June 17, 1943, in St. Boniface, Maureen lived in the area for the majority of her life, except for some time spent in Dugald and Lac du Bonnet, and most recently in East St. Paul. Maureen and Maurice enjoyed their winters in Leesburg, Florida, for the past 14 years and the many new friends they met there. Maureen was a strong and giving woman devoted to her family and they meant the world to her. The love and respect she received were a result of her selflessness and caring. She was also an incredibly supportive daughter and sister. Maureen was always there for her parents and, after her father died, she and her Mom spent even more time together, with Bernice eventually moving in with Maureen and Maurice. Maureen thought the world of her brother, Edmond, and his sons and their families and I am sure Auntie Maureen has a special place in their hearts. Maureen was a dynamic personality and full of life. To know her was to love her and you could always be assured of having an incredible time in her presence. Maureen's memory will be cherished by all of us. The family passes on their sincerest thanks to all that extended their time and support, especially in her time of need. From the night staff at the Victoria Hospital to the ever-present health care aides and nurses at Riverview Health Care Centre; we are deeply appreciative. A reception celebrating Maureen's life will be held on Thursday, February 16, from 4:00 p.m. - 7:00 p.m. with speeches starting at 5 :00 p.m. at The Gates on Roblin, 6945 Roblin Blvd. If friends so desire, in lieu of flowers, donations can be made to: The Compassionate Friends of Canada, Heart & Stroke Foundation, Children's Hospital Foundation or CancerCare Manitoba. Rudi, Ann en kinderen - Posted by: Familie Vromans - Faes (Friends) on: Feb 17, 2017

  • Dear Maurice, Christine, Edmond, Britney and Ashley, This earth has lost a lovely shining star and we all feel the absence of her unique light. Maureen encouraged and inspired me with her words of wisdom and love. In her I found a kindred spirit as an innate caregiver, connecting in our hearts and thoughts. I told her she was me....but better. She had Moxie, and I greatly admired that element that defined her and differentiated us. My heart feels the loss of her, but my life is better for her having been a part of it. I know the deep love she had for each of you, and I pray that love will console you and your memories of her will give you peace. She shines far above this earth, but she left a ray of her light in each of us. To see it, we need only to look into our hearts, and remember her. Sending our prayers and love, Denise and Rob Tanner (Florida) - Posted by: Denise & Rob Tanner (Friends) on: Feb 15, 2017
