ANNA MARGRETA KRISTIN SIDWALL
Born: Apr 22, 1919
Date of Passing: Feb 11, 2017
Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemoryANNA MARGRETA KRISTIN SIDWALL (nee GORANSON) April 22, 1919 - February 11, 2017 With great sadness we announce the peaceful passing of Margaret Sidwall at the age of 97. She is survived by her children Karen, Grant (Rita) and Craig (Eve); her sister Mildred and brother Alvin (Faye). Also left to mourn are her grandchildren Karina (Chris), Rich (Rowen), Shaun, Kyle (Kristie), Kati (Adrian) and Mat (Jill). She especially welcomed visits from her great-grandsons and was affectionately known as 'Grandma the Great' by Everet and Liam, and as 'GG Margaret' by Cohen. Mom farmed with Dad near Eriksdale in Nord School District and always welcomed her family and every visitor with food and coffee. One haying summer, looking back at the calendar, she noted that at least one non-family member had eaten supper with us every day in July and August - at the same time as she was an integral part of the haying crew. She joined the staff at the Eriksdale Consumers Co-op, where she became Manager, retiring after twenty years in 1984. Working off the farm did not diminish her enthusiasm for sewing, knitting and contributing to the community through the Clydebank Ladies Club and many other volunteer activities. Mom and Dad enjoyed ten years of retirement on the farm, gardening and hosting many visitors from as far away as Sweden, and travelling themselves. In 1997 Mom and Dad moved to the little house in Eriksdale, becoming Blue Jays fans. And through it all, the coffee pot was always on and her freezer always had a ready supply of hardtack and dainties for family and visitors. In 2007 Mom and Dad moved to Lindenwood Terrace in Winnipeg to be closer to their family. After Dad's death in 2010, Mom moved to Riverwood Square, then Misericordia Place. The family thanks the staff of the second floor of Misericordia Place for the care they provided Mom during her entire stay and especially the difficult last days. In accordance with her wishes, a small family gathering will be held to remember and celebrate Margaret. Arrangements entrusted to Anderson Family Funeral Home, 204-768-3606, Ashern MB.

Our family has many fond memories of times spent with Margaret and Everet in Eriksdale. She was an integral part of the Clydebank Ladies Club and such a great baker! She enjoyed sharing her Swedish background with others in the community. Rest in Peace! - Posted by: Thelma (Beckman) Blahey (Clydebank neighbors) on: Feb 14, 2017
