WILLA DE BRINCAT It is with deep sadness that we announce the sudden passing of our beloved mother Willa De Brincat on February 13, 2017 at the age of 77 years. She will forever be missed by her children Mark (Gina), Maureen; grandchildren Ethan, Jeff, Pascal, Aisha (Donovan and Theo), and Jenn (Pierre, Tristan, and Beau); eight sisters, five brothers, numerous nieces, nephews, brothers and sisters-in-law. Willa was predeceased by both her parents, her brother Paul, and her husband Dennis in 2004. Willa was born in Caliento, MB. After graduating, she moved to Winnipeg and worked as a dental assistant, then, later in life as a meal coordinator at Age and Opportunity Centre. She met and married her husband Dennis in 1963. In their 41 years of marriage, Willa and Dennis took pride in raising their family, enjoying time at the cottage, and travelling. Willa was a loving and nurturing wife, mother, grandmother, sister, friend and neighbour who was known for her wonderful cooking, gardening skills, and generosity. She had a way of including everyone and making them feel welcome. Despite many set backs in her health over the past number of years, she never ceased to amaze us with her determination. The family would like to thank Dr. Sawchuk, Dr. Soni, auntie Olga, auntie Iris, uncle Michael, Anna and Virginia for their exceptional care in Willa's final month and time of need. A service will be held to honour her life on Tuesday, February 21, 2017 at 11:00 a.m. at the Coutu Funeral Chapel, 680 Archibald Street.

Condolences & Memories (2 entries)

  • Dearest Willa, the best friend I ever had. I met Willa when she worked at Abrams Lab. I just loved her. In those days we didn't have much money and she gave me a birthday present. A gift pack of Evening in Paris perfume. I was so touched I started crying. I wish I still had it, as it would be a collectable. We used to meet every Saturday at Harmans Drugstore on Sherbrook and Portage and go dancing at the Normandy dance hall down the street. We both loved dancing. We drifted apart when I got married in 1959. I met up with her and her beloved Dennis when he became a patient at CCM where I worked, but somehow never kept in touch, and drifted apart again, I thought of her often, the best friend I ever had. She had a heart of gold. I am so sad that she has passed away and I will never see her again. I hope you are dancing with the angels, dear Willa. - Posted by: marianne humphreys (friend) on: Apr 21, 2021

  • So sorry to hear of Willa's sudden passing. My thoughts and prayers are with the family. Willa was such a character. Larger than life. I admired her honesty and freedom to speak her mind. She had such love for her children and grandchildren, so very caring to those kids. She will be greatly missed. Love to Gina, Mark, Maureen and the kids.
