She leaves behind her husband William (Bill) Okrusko, who will miss her deeply, after 64 years of marriage; her two sons, David (Giséle) Okrusko and Gary (Claire) Okrusko; and her granddaughters, Danielle (Kevin Parsons) and Kendra. Being orphaned at a young age, she developed a special relationship with her nieces, Marilyn Dudek and Donna Kormilo; her nephew Stephen Kormilo, and their spouses, John Dudek and Helen Kormilo. She leaves to mourn her many Okrusko nephews and nieces. She was predeceased by her two sisters, Marian (Michael) Ornar and Olga (Steve) Kormilo; and Okrusko in-laws, Michael and Claire, Andrew and Eugenie, Peter, Norman and Betty, Anne and Willie Salki, and Eleanor and Wally Porbanic. Nadia worked for many years at General Electric, then at the Victorian Order of Nurses until her retirement. The love of travel included many family vacations with their tent trailer across Canada and the US, cruises to Alaska, the Mediterranean, Panama Canal, and trips to Ukraine, Australia, and Asia, as well as their annual sojourn for a month to Hawaii for over 27 years. Nadia had a passion for singing and her favourite time of the week was joining the church choir in the loft for mass at St. Mary the Protectress Cathedral. She loved cooking for the family, including her famous chicken noodle soup and borscht. People were always welcome to Sunday dinners and the memorable Christmas gatherings. The family wishes to extend their heartfelt thanks to the staff at Misericordia Interim Unit C2 for their compassionate care over the last year. In lieu of flowers, please consider a donation to the Alzheimer Society of Canada, 20 Eglinton Ave. W., Ste. 1600, Toronto ON, M4R 1K8. Funeral Divine Liturgy will be celebrated by Fr. Alexander Harkavyi at St. Mary the Protectress Ukrainian Orthodox Cathedral, 820 Burrows Ave., at 10:00 am on Wednesday, February 22, 2017, followed by interment at All Saints Cemetery. Our condolences to Mr Okrusko and the family. Hard to lose your spouse. Mrs. O like we always referred to her was a beautiful and grand lady. Over the years we enjoyed lots of her food. She was a great cook and we enjoyed all the times the Okrusko and Audette families got together. May she find peace in heaven. - Posted by: Nicole and David Forsyth (sister of Gisele) on: Feb 21, 2017
